Vance, maybe Tzeentch? But could be Slaanesh as well given the whole couch thing :D
Been trying to work out which Chaos Gods are represented in Trump II. RFK is for sure a Nurgleite, I think Hegseth is a wannabe Khorne follower, but the Blood God views him in contempt for his lack of honour
Musk was actually right that controlling the Bird App would basically allow him to mould the views of the elites in society, however in the long run this will destroy their legitimacy.
It seems that a lot of the UK's current political problems are downstream of the fact that much of its media and political elites are hopelessly addicted to Twitter, and this has fundamentally warped their perceptions of reality.
Been playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance lately, and for all the game's vaunted realism in its depiction of 15th century Czechia, I note that you can't see kids anywhere. Then again, the game starts with a brutal massacre of a village, so I can see why they didn't.
Willem Dafoe might have been a good pick as well, he can project both the homoerotic 'alpha male' energy and be a creepy weirdo at the same time
Imo the whole point of Fight Club would have come across better if Tyler Durden was played by Steve Buscemi instead of Brad Pitt
Somettimes I worry that this whole shitshow we are in is just because American men watched Fight club and thought the take away was "dudes rock".
Yeah I agree that she was actually not that bad as a candidate, but she essentially received a hospital pass in regard to swing voters.
'It was inflation, stupid' + the whole Biden dropping out saga pretty much sealed the deal in hindsight, it's not that much more complicated than that. The only issue is that a lot of American voters thought they were voting for 'normal' center-right politics, which, uh, no.
This is honestly why pointing and laughing and calling them a bunch of pathetic weirdos is much more effective as a tactic, these guys feed on outrage, but they *cannot* handle ridicule without going full Sephiroth posting.
The performative cod-Nietzschean 'inversion of values' is a hallmark of the Very Online Right, it really is done for its transgressive impact and depends on liberals and leftists getting outraged like censorious Puritans.
In India, a lot of Hindutva activists use the left-coded language of 'decolonisation' and 'ways of knowing' to attack secularism and democracy. This is also common in some Islamist circles.
The prioritisation of aesthetics is always an indicator of a deeply sus moral compass and political instincts.
One reason social media propaganda is more insidious than TV/print/radio etc is that people are not just passive consumers of it, but actively participate in creating it. This makes people more reluctant to let go of narratives even with evidence, because of the nature of the investment .
I kinda feel a lot of commentators continue to miss how completely the propaganda narratives have consumed the GOP at this point. This isn't 2013 when its just red meat for the rubes, they all *believe* this shit.
In addition to being virulently racist, it's a reminder that Republican officials have no idea who actually depends on SNAP benefits.
if you're wondering how things are going in texas, the chairman of the Tarrant County GOP is joking that Nov. 1st, the day SNAP benefits are poised to run out, is "National Chimp Out Day"
"Well, even in toothache there is enjoyment," I answer. I had toothache for a whole month and I know there is. In that case, of course, people are not spiteful in silence, but moan; but they are not candid moans, they are malignant moans, and the malignancy is the whole point." Dostoyevsky
One of the biggest revelations of the social media age imo is how much people are addicted to getting mad, so much so that they'll actively create reasons when there are none.

YOU - “But I don't wanna get my shit together!”

KIM KITSURAGI - “Then the world will turn away from you, and leave you behind.”
Yes, I think this is broadly true, but practically it's much harder to mobilise a political movement for a future society not for you or your children, but to benefit your hypothetical great-great grandchildren.
Propitiating the angry American deities has been central to Japanese statecraft since 1945
This seems to apply to the UK as well
Arab culture was also big on this, both pre and post Islam
It's the symptoms that kill you
Famously no gays in the Greco-Roman world which these guys like to invoke all the time
All governments need popular legitimacy with at least enough of their populations. A government which only uses sticks and no carrots for anyone has never existed
Tbh it’s interesting that people think that since China is authoritarian, its government can do whatever it wants no matter how unpopular. Like you see people saying they’ll be able to cut pensions because they’re authoritarian, but let’s remember how Covid Zero went for them lol
