#Interestingly “Jesus Is A Soul Man” by Lawrence Reynolds rode the late-’60s wave of spiritual pop music and the youth-driven religious revival.

Possibly, Lawrence Reynolds' pinnacle of success was his duet with the Man in Black on the Johnny Cash Show in 1970. #LawrenceReynolds #OneHitWondered

#Interestingly Tanya Tucker has been a country powerhouse since 1972, when she broke through at age 13 with “Delta Dawn.” She followed with “What’s Your Mama’s Name,” “Blood Red and Goin’ Down,” and “Would You Lay with Me (In a Field of Stone)” all went to #1 on the country chart. #OneHitWondered

#QuickSidenote “Lizzie and the Rainman” was written by Kenny O’Dell & Larry Henley… O’Dell had earned US #OneHitWonder honors in 1967 when his self-penned (as Kenny Gist Jr.) “Beautiful People” spent a couple of weeks on the US #Billboard #Top40. #KennyODell #OneHitWondered

#OneHitHistory Happy birthday to country music superstar Tanya Tucker, #BOTD in 1958. In 1975, Tanya became a rare country star who had a hit crossover onto the #Billboard #Top40… “Lizzie and the Rainman” spent 2 weeks on the chart, peaking at #37. It was her only #Top40 hit. #OneHitWondered

You're not alone with that sentiment, that's for sure...

If you're gonna start posting other covers, it's going to be a major undertaking! That song has quite a history... From The Nashville Teens to David Lee Roth. 😜

#QuickSidenote Despite the name, The Nashville Teens were not from Tennessee... They got their name from the Everly Brothers' song, "Nashville Blues," which the band had been covering. #EverlyBrothers #TheNashvilleTeens #OneHitWondered

#Interestingly Drummer Barry Jenkins joined The Nashville Teens just in time to record “Tobacco Road.” Eric Burdon of The Animals liked his drumming so much, he hired him away. Jenkins stayed with Burdon through band & lineup changes, playing on hits like "San Franciscan Nights." #OneHitWondered

#Interestingly Don Arden sent The Nashville Teens out onto the German club circuit (seems as though it was the thing to do for English groups) and they famously backed Jerry Lee Lewis on his ferocious 1964 live LP “Live at the Star-Club, Hamburg.” #JerryLeeLewis #TheNashvilleTeens #OneHitWondered

#QuickSidenote Inquiring minds are gonna want to know... ol' John D. falls into a bit of a ‘gray area.' He also had a pre-Hot 100-era hit in 1957, under the name Johnny Dee, with his version of “Sittin’ On The Balcony.” Does this disqualify him? I don’t think so… #JohnDLoudermilk #OneHitWondered

#QuickSidenote Think we’re done with ol’ Johnny Dee? Nope… Did John D. Loudermilk earn #OneHitWonder honors for himself? Yeah, sort-of. He had a pre-Hot 100 hit in 1957, but since we're only looking at the Billboard Hot 100, which started in 1958, he qualifies... His hit from 1961. #OneHitWondered

#Interestingly The semi-autobiographical “Tobacco Road” was written by North Carolina singer/songwriter John D. Loudermilk… a name that’s well-known in #OneHitWonderland. Loudermilk released his down-home, ‘folky’ version in 1960 to little fanfare. #JohnDLoudermilk #OneHitWondered
