That’s just tasteless.
NEW: Glasgow City Council has just approved a massive AI-generated mural to be painted in the city centre.

The illustration of Scottish elements inexplicably contains a bald eagle.

The planner says those upset about it are "keyboard warriors" who should "calm down"

A decade ago, when Trump one the first time, I and other Black writers tried to make us see that racism — both explicit and deeply seeded — was at the root of Trump’s rise. We were dismissed even as late as last year as people attributed economic anxieties to Trump’s wins.
DO YOU BELIEVE US NOW?

This.

The challenge is that people were taught *that* the nazis were bad, but not *why* the Nazis were bad.

Studying Black History, Indian History, and African History, would have revealed why Hitler didn't see himself or the Nazis as bad, and the danger and rot lurking in our societies.
This exactly. U.S. and European culture uniformly showing the villainy of the Nazis, and the heroism of the leaders and the millions of volunteers on the Allied side—Evelyn Waugh, Kurt Vonnegut, James Stewart, Audrey Hepburn!—every film, every TV show, every thriller in the bookshop. And now this?
It's weird thinking about all the history classes where we were sold ideas about decency, inclusiveness, democracy etc. Even if they were aspirational simplifications of nuanced history, I can't believe how many people were like, 'No. The Nazis were cool, slavery is good, ethnic cleansing is good.'

💯 this! However I’m not sure this will happen. Folks impression about the Green Party for instance is quite crappy. I try my best to educate at any chance but it feels like there’s a missing gap.
On a purely electoral level if you don't want what's happening in the US to happen here in NZ you actually have to vote as far left as possible. The back and forth between major parties to slowly edge us towards fascism is VERY well established at this point.

I am seeing people debate the business value of LLMs for software development and so I will share again my essay using feminist anthropology and critical pedagogy lenses to guess at how widespread adoption of AI will play out. I think it is holding up! www.winstonhearn.com/wrote/2025/f...
Feral Tech
I think the shitty pedagogy and false assumptions that underly the LLM boosters' beliefs about how human knowledge operates will have similar risk profiles to unleashing a preschool class without supe...

When the NZ's coalition govt took office nearly two years ago, its #WarOnNature started.

In that time, they've made a bewildering number of changes leading to environmental harm.

Greenpeace Aotearoa head @russelnorman.bsky.social has undertaken the gargantuan task of tracking them all👇

Some of y'all still say that I am "anti-cop" and don't believe me when I say that some of my followers are current and former cops, and that they don't disagree with what I say, or get mad at me when people say "ACAB!" or "Defund!"🤷🏿‍♂️

Although it's rarely expressed in outright terms, people often use a very simple heuristic when solving fashion problems: they wish to look rich, which is often disguised as "respectable."

I will show you why this rarely leads to good outfits. 🧵

If I say "I want to build a Mars base!" That's "Wanting to build stuff?"

But if I say, "I want to end all fossil fuel cars by 2030!" That's holding back progress?
🙂🙃

"I want to build murder drones!" I'm a builder?

"I want to build enough housing to end homelessness this decade!" Leftist?
🙂🙃
There is a lot to hate about the politics of the silicon valley right, but they do actually want to build stuff, and I would prefer if the left didn't cede "we should be able to build stuff" to the right.
