the theory for why they made that decision is because in the reverse localization (english to japanese) youd have to japanesify english words/names bc japanese phonetics are very limited so we think they made the assumption that it goes both ways but it does not

took us a bit to realize that in english we generally put stress of the first syllable of names but NOT japanese names i think because we are treating them more like other types of words than actual names? thats the theory anyway, in our test it was always first for english names and varied for jpn

naturally say sakamoto like suh-KAH-muh-toh even non weebs would say SAKA-moh-[d]oh (aus/am) and we realized that we do in english put stress on third syllables in japanese names like heen-UH-ko and we think the japanese director got the rule mixed up bc we only do that for 3 syllable names not 4

this happens all the time its usually when people are talking about cis guys who are short or have soft faces or wear like hawaiian shirts/jewelry or have unusual/alt hair/facial hair or like painted nails or something. stuff like that, feels like a soft alternative to faggy/fruity or smth tbh
