But I agree: some of those models on the market lately are there just to get the manufacturer's emission numbers down. There is no good reason to buy a hybrid now when the price premium for an EV is almost irrelevant.

I did well driving a Corolla Hybrid for rideshare purposes a few years ago. Overall (lifetime) consumption ticked down to just 3.8 L/100km when I returned the rental.

Yes it's crowded, but cities don't remain static. In 2021 the population in the CBD was just shy of 55,000 then. It might easily be another 10%-20% now. If we can create a viable bypass of the central Hoddle grid to the west, then I'd consider that a good thing.

That's actually a nice handy link to Docklands and south of the Yarra. It will take a lot of traffic from the west away from Spencer Street/ Dudley Street etc.
