We LOVE CYD so much - especially because it helps us reclaim power over our archives 🫶.

And it’s SUPER easy to use!

Hey @beehiiv.com - we have a problem - we filed a ticket with you nearly 3 weeks ago and you have yet to handle it. It's a super easy fix and any other company would've resolved it within 2 minutes.

GL with this level of disregard and disrespect - we're heading back to mailchimp!

[email protected] announced that tomorrow they're shutting down their Mobile Justice app that allowed users to record police interactions to the cloud. The only similar app we're aware of is Cop Watch Video Recorder for iPhone.

What else exists for this purpose, particularly on Android phones?

As mentioned in the @eff.org’s post, OpenArchive is affected by these illegal freezes. What is not mentioned is that it is likely existential for us if other funders aren’t able to offer emergency support.

Proud of my community for working fast to mitigate the damage while congress just rolls over.

Yes! If you make it usable, they will come.

I created OpenArchive bc I & communities I did ethno research w/ while at UCB’s ischool wanted an easy way to securely preserve mobile media.

Secure / dweb tools weren’t usable in 2011 - and aren’t much better now - I founded OpenArchive to change that.

💯 it’s just odd he left bsky for twitter after creating it bc it was too similar to twitter lol
openarchive.bsky.social
Even more egregious is that it’s happening at the same time most other funders are cutting off support.
