TELEHEALTH UPDATE: The House passed the Department of Health and Human Services’ funding bill yesterday, including telehealth extensions.
Under the proposal, Medicare telehealth flexibilities would be extended by 2 years, until Dec. 31, 2027. They are not permanent so there is still work to be done.

The citric acid (TCA) cycle is a series of chemical reactions in the mitochondria. At OMF’s CRC at Stanford University, Dr. Ron Davis’ team is investigating alterations to the TCA cycle in #pwME, specifically a hypothesis called the itaconate shunt.

Stratification is a fancy way of saying that participants in a research study are divided into subgroups, or stratified, based on specific characteristics (like sex or age). It helps researchers determine how those characteristics influence the results.

New myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME, also known as ME/CFS) genetics study reveals 250+ core genes, shared mechanisms with long COVID, and dozens of drug repurposing opportunities. This would not have been possible without the thousands of people with ME who contributed their data.

Physiological response is an involuntary, automatic, internal process that is stimulated by something like stress or infection. Symptoms are how a person experiences those internal changes in a clinically observable way. In #MECFS research, it’s important to monitor both.
