So I make models.
I try not to pigeonhole myself but the link to it all is the human, the person, the soldier. Every model is improved by the presence of a figure.
Been doing this for years, but obviously it all ramped up in 2020.
Did a good bit of research, and it’s satisfying when all the colours and beadwork are actual real world!
Thanks so much.
Thanks! I tried to keep it simple, but I always enjoy groundwork.
What I was really proud of, that’s not visible in these photos, is the base itself.
If stalled on the project until I found this base!
I’m back on here again, and need to post more stuff. Which is true everywhere!
Little Wing, Jicarilla Apache. 1/12 scale.
I have just returned and seen this! I have the book but no signature in mine! Great find!
I have the 2 British head sets.
Without a doubt the best out there, as good as the early Hornet sets.
The helmeted heads are excellent and features the helmet liners on the head and the helmets are separate.
Lots of character on all the heads.
They are remarkable creatures and that is such a beautiful photo!
From my experience they have a ludicrously high pain threshold.
So pleased she’s thriving
Been away from BkueSky for a bit and just seen this!! Poor thing…and poor you!!!
Nothing as extreme here but my Jem at 11 months broke out of the house in her first season and double fractured her leg. She’s had metal plates for 11 years now!
Tough one! Hope all is going well
All opinions welcome here! Thank you.
I’ve used Magic Sculpt and GS mixes before. Just trying to find out the AS properties here.
Appreciated!
Fingers crossed he’ll end up up looking a bit like I envision!!! A long way to go!
Sculpting again….
1/35
Apoxie Sculpt (new to me, but the putty I have is close to 20 years old!!!)
Got myself a little turntable so made a video of a piece I painted for Models for Heroes.

Bead work on the cape. This is based on an actual museum piece. Took a while to work out how to approach it - you can see how it began on the unfinished other arm.

Also tried to make a colourful reflective look in the abalone shell necklace, with pastel colours.
Thank you.

Yes, sadly they’re not. A one man operation who said a few years ago his eyesight wasn’t up to it anymore. It was an eclectic range! Things still pop up on eBay, though.
Further progress on my 120mm (1/16) Jicarilla Apache woman.

Happy with the flesh now and added some actual eyes!
Also added “interest” to the deerskin yellow cape.

Enjoying this one - a challenge and a very different subject!
More working on the 120mm Jicarilla Apache Woman - Little Wing

I wasn’t happy with the orangeness of the face, so added just a small amount of ScaleColor Pink Flesh SC21 to the orange brown and to my eyes, made her seem more human again.

Added base colour for the beading and sketched in the belt.
120mm Jicarilla Apache 1890

This is the “sketching” phase.
Broad brush strokes. No blending.
Are the colours working.

This is terrifying me. Big unforgiving figure, subject out of my comfort zone
Thank you for this Amy!
It’s fun painting those little details (I make a list at the end to make sure I miss nothing…)
And it’s great when people see them and appreciate them!
Thank Paul.
I’d say a good sculpt paints itself but obviously it doesn’t. But it helps enormously!
I see so many struggling with figures by trying to paint a turd! 🤪
Ahhh just heard it! Kind of weird hearing your work described like that!
Also, given I posted it as they were recording, TJ commented on it and I got a friend request from him literally within minutes so I guess they were all setting up at that moment! Explains a lot!
Well, in some ways it is appropriate, as not a single Sherman was made after hostilities ended, but they had enough in field that this variant wasn’t required.
And the US adopted the M4A3 76 for Korea and didn’t use any other variants.
Glad it got replaced! A1 hulls with that suspension never saw service during the war. They were post war French tanks, many of which ended up in the IDF
Thank you, Roger!
Excellent!! That’s pretty quick though to get on a recording! I only posted it on Friday I think!! But great to hear!
