i love that thing he does whenever he realizes that he sounds too flat and it doesn't match what he's trying to convey so he tries to artificially inject some pep into his voice and his sentence just sounds like "let's. ᵏᵉᵉᵖ ᶦᵗ ᵍᵒᶦⁿᵍ"

oscar has shown who he is in australia when he spun out and got stuck in wet grass and tried to reverse and his wheels were spinning and spinning but he was still stuck and he was marked as DNF but he kept at it and kept at it for a minute and a half until he got himself out and back into the race

he sounds so excited and relieved i'm so proud (i know he doesn't sound that way to an untrained ear but as someone with a degree in oscology i can confirm that's one very very happy boy)

anyway lando is so fascinating to me, the way he navigates the world and so openly shows all of his insecurities but is also full of false bravado and he's simultaneously the rudest and kindest driver just all these contradictions in one person truly if he didn't exist he would have to be invented

and so much of lando's personality can be explained by this picture of 16yo max with 14yo lando! lando was always so much smaller and looked so much younger than his peers even though they were the same age that everyone instictively babied him and they still do, and he's used to that.

expanding on lando being with the team for so long and since he was so young, like that's his defining trait, his loyalty to the team. and then oscar and literally the thing he was most famous for (before his championship lead this year) was "publicly betraying his should-have-been team"

oscar has been awarded the don award "for his outstanding achievements and example over the past 12 months that inspired the nation" it's so deserved because he has truly been so inspiring to me this year even if the results aren't what he hoped for. i am "the nation".
