i lost *me* in that moment
and was none the less for it

that hard-won and elusive instant
when my insistence on penetrating
everything around me with mind
was wisped away by the green noise
of leaves
fervidly applauding

We often treat religion and shamanism as fundamentally different. But the two are deeply enmeshed, and a push and pull between them has played out repeatedly across history.

Just one of the topics discussed in latest episode, with @manvir.bsky.social!

broad-tailed hummingbirds built a nest atop a tea light on a friend's front porch. one bird fledged yesterday, and one kiddo (who I saw flying, too) was hanging around for more food from mom #birds

Things to do during an economic blackout (and after!):

- visit your local public library
- join a maker space
- learn how to mend your clothes
- cook for a neighbor
- donate that box of items to your local charity
- download Amazon purchase history as step 1 of canceling your account

What else?

"We're all so much alike... and yet we're all so different! I find myself rejoicing at the endless variety of human beings, and that's partly, I know, because your differences from one another tell me that it's alright for me to be different in many ways, too."

The other day, I dropped my phone directly onto its face, shattering it into an expression of misery. A few days later, thanks to the parts, tools, and instructions from @ifixit.com (and a bit of DIY gusto on my part), its face is happy again!
Glad I could exercise my #RighttoRepair

If you can practice hearing what core values are on all sides of your neighbor’s stories…

If you can rip out which pawn voted for which knight from their soapbox laments…

If you could stop fighting about specifics of the story long enough to hear the big picture…

All your reactions to tyranny are valid.

Doom hard, take space, get angry, feel grief, focus on love, make art, march streets.

What we aren’t going to do is police each other, point fingers at each other, or abandon each other.

Diversity is our strength.
Solidarity is the focus.

Together is 🔑.

Rev. Julián Jamaica Soto’s “The Butterfly Effect” reminds us that small actions shape the world—a truth reflected in Dr. King’s legacy. On MLK Day, we honor his bold dream of justice, equality, and love, carried forward by collective action. Read the full poem at bit.ly/4jlWJrM. #MLK #UU

No more waiting for words never before spoken
No more waiting for perfect pitch or golden gates open
Never again waiting to speak out for some expiration of doubt

A vision of peace sung out to me
Called by family across eternity
Love’s power pours over we
So I join a chorus of hope-fueled humanity

Globular's music is often full of hope and a playfulness that feels both childlike and ageless. I'm basking in the glow of this track right now:

When peace seems scarce out there, don’t forget to draw it up from within.
