🎨 Istanbul, 19th Century

"At your door, the lover suffers disgrace, while the rival enjoys honor.
Do not oppress today, my lady; tomorrow is Judgment Day.
I wish to reach the beloved’s union before I die,
So in sorrow’s corner, I keep the fast of separation."

✏️ Cafer Nâmî Efendi, 16th Century

🎨 A House on Bosphorus, Istanbul

"Do not think the cry of the frenzied nightingale is for the spring;
It is an apology to the lovers for its impudence in revealing love.."

[𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗹𝗹 𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝗹𝘁 𝗧𝗲𝘅𝘁]

✏️ Muîn Efendi, 18th Century
Do not think the cry of the frenzied nightingale is for the spring;
It is an apology to the lovers for its impudence in revealing love.

I secretly loved that playful, mocking beauty;
Alas, my love could not be contained within — now it lies bare.

I revealed the wound of my heart, like the tulip with its dark core;
For that rose inclines toward the garden of tulips — those marked by wounds.

I no longer cast a glance of favor upon the rose garden of this fleeting world;
All my longing is for that rose-cheeked beloved alone.

“By the sun and its brightness.” (91:1)

The Messenger of God (ﷺ) said: “I am the nearest of all people to #Jesus, son of Mary, in this world and the Hereafter. The prophets are brothers; their mothers are different, but their religion is one.”
