16/ This project is a proof of the capabilities of public universities and public research in producing policy-oriented research for the public good. END
pablobortz.bsky.social
15/ Finally, for the case of some of us, researchers in Argentina (& perhaps elsewhere), I want to highlight that this work happens in the context of severe attacks on public education and scientific research by our far-right government.
pablobortz.bsky.social
14/ There is more work coming in 2026, with issues like the design of GSTs, the impact on trade in developing countries, the relation with FDI policies, case studies about their environmental impact and potential, etc. We’ll crown it with another workshop at @unsamoficial.bsky.social
pablobortz.bsky.social
13/ These papers will be presented at a workshop in November at the University of Johannesburg, where we’ll debate with practitioners, financial sector, industries, trade unions, civil society organisations and scholars. We’ll keep you posted!

12/ I’ve seen these papers, and I can assure you: these is ground-breaking, pioneering and very relevant work on the issue of GSTs, industrial and trade policy, and socioenvironmental approaches to sustainability. Not exaggerating one bit.

11/ This WP also produces three papers for this year, in a team led by Ruben Quintana, with Valeria Sfara, Mariana Totino (all [email protected]), Vanina Pietragalla (Agronomia UBA) y también Alejandro Dorado. Very relevant, policy-oriented work, with very practical proposals.

10/ WP4 looks at the environmental dimensions of GSTs, reviewing their criteria and metrics, issues of lack of data in the Global South, and looking at the key role of changes in land use as driver of loss of biodiversity and ecosystemic services, & as source of GHG emissions.
pablobortz.bsky.social
9/ Finally, Erika Kraemer-Mbula (@UJ_TRCTI), Roberta Rabellotti (Pavia), Vito Amendolagine (Foggia) and @dalilariba.bsky.social are working on the impact of FDI projects in renewable energy in Africa.
pablobortz.bsky.social
8/ José Miguel Ahumada (IEI-UdeChile), Nicolas Perrone, @nicogrimblatt.bsky.social & Ramiro Bertoni discuss “green policy space” in the new geopolitical turn, and what role could GSTs play.
pablobortz.bsky.social
7/ WP 3 looks at the international (trade, FDI and global governance dimension) of GSTs. The first paper is led by Andrea Molinari, who did a very long review of the topic (I read it), including global value chains, RTAs, BTIs, environmental goods & clauses, the EU Green Deal, etc.
pablobortz.bsky.social
6/ This great paper looks at GSTs and social gaps, analysing the sustainability approach of Brazilian sustainable taxonomy from a socioeconomic perspective, looking at the intersection of GHG emissions, employment, wages, gender and racial gaps. Amazing work.
pablobortz.bsky.social
5/ The other paper by Robert et al looks at the relationship between GSTs and industrial policy. Finally, the last paper of WP 2 was written by Pedro Marques, Luiza Nassif (@made-usp.bsky.social), Patieene Passoni (UFAL), Lucas Rodrigues (BNDES), Carolina Baltar & Brenda Neves (IE-UNICAMP).
pablobortz.bsky.social
4/ In WP 2, there are 3 papers. 2 of those papers were written by a team led by Verónica Robert, with researchers from CONICET, [email protected] & @unodeloeste. The 1st discusses green structural change in the Global South and its relations with (and possible contributions by) GSTs.
pablobortz.bsky.social
3/ With Alejandro Dorado and Milton Gimenez Melero (@ieausp.bsky.social) we build on the work by CCAP and GIZ (2022), & we did a survey of all national GSTs around the world, including also taxonomies from the EU, LAC and ASEAN.
pablobortz.bsky.social
2/ The project is international and interdisciplinary, structured around “working packages”. The 1st WP surveys and reviews all the topics related to green and sustainable taxonomies (GSTs). You can find a review here: www.unsam.edu.ar/escuelas/eid...

Dear people: Keynes once said that "Montesquieu was the greatest of the French political economists". Could you give me references/articles that deal/explain Montesquieu's economic ideas/theories? Thanks.

A tip: if you see a zero yesterday, it's not a glitch. If you see a 100 today, it's not a glitch either.

I know Argentine economy is volatile and depressing. But, even for its standards, please take a look at what's happening with its overnight interest rate in the last 10 days. I've never seen anything like it, anywhere. Don't believe me, just look for yourself.
