Do you do moth trapping in the UK? We'd love your help! 💡

At @ukceh.bsky.social we're training & testing AI to detect multiple moths in a single image.

Send us top-down photos of multiple moths on egg trays to support this work.

I wondered if this is the larval exuvium of a rhododendron lacebug Stephanitis rhododendri - have you come across this one @norwichbirder.bsky.social @arcanelove.bsky.social ? At Sheringham Park. Also Rhododendron leafhopper.

It’s the big day! After four years of research, writing and editing (and procrastination, terror and imposter syndrome), Endemic has now been released to the world.
Endemic is out now

Great long weekend just gone, hosting BUBO friends for Norfolk PSL shenanigans. A varied list of 22 new species for me, some common and some rare. Great fun!

Share away, please do. We're still mopping up a few identifications from the weekend, should have a final tally shortly.

Thanks Sam. We're really waiting on a full update from BSBI/UKSI for all plants, but for now we've implemented these changes.

Thanks Ash. OK, now changed, silphids are now staphs in PSL
panspecieslisting.bsky.social
Good point. No, still have these as family Silphidae, as that's how they sit in the UK Species Inventory. And that neatly avoids the messiness of them being in Vol 1 of BBI. But maybe we should make that change. Is it 100% accepted now that they're in the staphs?

Enthusiasm for social media posting has been crumbling in the past year (probably due to the spectre of Egon Moose hanging over twatter). I'm hoping it will return on Bluesky perhaps.
Cheers!

To celebrate the publication of Andrew Duff's final volume of "BBI", Rove Beetles are now a subgroup on Pan-species Listing, for your rankings, targets and blockers. Not the easiest group, but with 1,148 species involved it's a really important one.
