Continuing to hope that we have hit the bottom. US added 42K jobs in Oct which is low, but an uptick from pervious months. No federal data but this is what we have to look at. Staying cautiously optimistic.

It is not just IT firms being affected by the H-1B fee. Healthcare in the US is supplemented by specialists and providers from outside the US. The fear is that this will cut off the worlds best and brightest from our hospitals.

More on new terms... "No hire no fire" is a new one for me showing a stagnating job market. But that seems to be changing with more companies announcing significant layoff activity and the economy shows little sign of change and the shutdown continues.

"No hire, no fire" job market may no longer be a thing as big companies announce mass layoffs
Amazon and UPS on Tuesday announced tens of thousands of job cuts, the latest signal that the U.S. labor market is downshifting.

With the layoff announcement from Amazon, it is worth looking at 2025. This has been a tough year for jobs and the hope is we have hit the bottom. Staffing has leveled off to some extend but we are definitely in a stagnating labor market.

This is absolutely fascinating...
US Suppliers not in a position to lower production again and Saudi still flooding the market. Plenty of oil out there and US production capacity has plenty of room to increase but they are holding to keep prices steady and the concerns over Russian sanctions are a hedge.

CPI rose in slightly in Sept but lower than expected. However, food and energy prices are leading the way including Natural Gas which IS UP over 11% this year. This likely insures a rate cut from the Fed but will do nothing to curb corp economic concerns.

Some news from the federal shutdown seems more troubling then others. This one made me do a doubletake. The stories that generally trouble me are more personal stories but ones like this make me wonder what we are doing...
