There are two pairs of Red Squirrels at Paradise Park. They can be elusive as they sleep a lot but when they are active they are full of energy and beautiful to see.
Red squirrel coat colours can range from bright orange to dark red often with a grey-white tinge in winter.

The egg-yolk-yellow crest of this cockatoo shows this is a Citron-crested Cockatoo, the dark eyes tell us he is a male. A female has lighter reddish-brown or chestnut-brown irises.
You can see him and his mate in their aviary in Parrot Jungle.

This clip better shows the scale of some of the damage near the main show stage. The team is doing a great job clearing. Then repairing fencing etc. & moving on to other areas. We will use a lot of this for fresh perching for aviaries and leaves for foraging.

The Keepers checked the birds and animals at the Park this morning, dealing with the obvious damage to aviaries. Precautions were put in place yesterday in preparation but sadly now found two birds, a Weaver and a Sun Conure which had not made it through the storm. >
January 9, 2026 at 1:32 PM
Due to damage from storm Goretti the Park will be closed today as a tremendous amount of damage. All the animals and birds are okay.

The JungleBarn Play Centre will be open as normal from 10am.

Be careful if going out, lots of roads block by trees & debris. Be safe everyone Xx
