Due to the federal government shutdown, Pennsylvania must delay the opening of the 2025-2026 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) season by one month, until Dec. 3, 2025, because DHS has not yet received its federal allocation.
A real bipartisan compromise that could be signed into law is on the table but Senate Republicans are ignoring it.

The Governor indicated that he is prepared to sign the compromised budget passed by the House, even though it is less than what he asked for in his budget proposal.
What would be the impact of the Senate Republican budget, if it went into effect?

Schools would have to raise taxes to pay for the decrease in expected funding from the state subsidies. They would have to eat any interest costs they took out to get to this point in the impasse.
Senate Republicans' “flat-funded” budget is effectively a cut to services.

Maintaining last year’s levels of spending represents a funding cut across the board, between inflation, tariffs and new policies from Washington.
Yesterday's exercise does nothing but prolong the Senate Republicans’ self-imposed budget impasse.

They claim their budget will end the impasse, but they've not done the necessary work of negotiating a deal all parties can agree upon.

This is nothing more than grandstanding.
Senate Republicans’ budget is a complete nonstarter.

Maintaining last year’s levels of spending represents a funding cut across the board. This level of funding comes in at least $2B short of what’s necessary to keep PA running.

It’s an unacceptable, unserious, joke.

We're all facing the careless and cruel cuts to health care thanks to Congressional Republicans.

These cuts will hurt nursing homes, rural hospitals, community health centers and families already struggling to make ends meet.
We believe that quality and affordable health care is a basic human right for ALL, not just the wealthy.

Congressional Republicans are making it harder and much more expensive everyday Americans to afford health insurance for themselves and their families.
Congressional Republicans are the cause of steep health insurance increase that hard working Pennsylvanians are facing.

Their careless and cruel cuts to health care will increase costs by an average of 82% for all enrollees, with many paying double, triple or quadruple per month.
The cost of health insurance across the United States has skyrocketed.

Why? Congressional Republicans.

They've worked to make it harder for Americans to enroll in health insurance and expensive for working families to maintain coverage.
