🇦🇫 Independence Without Freedom?
"August 19 once meant pride and progress. Today, it feels hollow. Afghan girls are still banned from schools, still silenced, still sidelined. What does independence mean when half the nation is not free?"

I remain hopeful for Afghanistan because of my students, and all who believe in education and women’s rights. The future cannot be built without girls, women, and minorities at the center.

You can’t develop a country while half its population is barred from school, work, and public life. Tourism in Afghanistan cannot erase the reality: women are oppressed, girls are out of classrooms, and foreign passports don’t change that truth.
