The #peek scurried up a trunk and along a branch, disturbing a whisper of ghostly leaves. It paused at the very tip before leaping to a round and round landing inside the left lense of a girl's binoculars, where it rolled up tight inside the blink of an eye before seeping out into her mind.

“And it's peaceful in the deep
Cathedral where you can not breathe
No need to pray, no need to speak
Now I am under

Oh, and it's breaking over me
A thousand miles down to the seabed
I found the place to rest my head

Never let me go, never let me go”

"The war goes well," the sergeant said, as he #issued the conscript a pair of ill-fitting boots and an obsolete rifle.
"You'll be a hero," the officer said, as he shuffled toward the front.
"He was a fool," his mother said, when they handed her a flag.

Social media can be challenging, but I love the side of it that still exists that feeds into that part that remains curious & creative.

It takes time, but it’s time well spent. The exploratory process is edifying, & you come out with more —& of better quality —than you began with.

'What is it Grandpa?'
'It's a railway line. Back in olden times before the The Plague, trains would #transport thousands of people around the country.'
'It must have been wondrous Grandpa.'
'Actually they were shit. Overcrowded. Overpriced. Always late. Total nightmare.'

how might it react
this tongue
to the flex and vibrate
of a new language

an alphabet
redistributed
spliced and wrought
into new formations

I am weighing vowels
for emphasis

misinterpretation
rubs its hands
waits for my fall

sometimes
no-one's to blame
the journey just comes to an end

Our recent past
like silk in soapsuds

no grit, no thorns

the rug
returning to atoms
beneath our feet

store cupboard memories
in labelled jars

somewhere sweet
to dip our fingers
from time to time

Song and sound. The little girl bounds across a beach of sand to a cold, flecked sea, splashing from knee to knee in the lap between waves, where, listening beneath, in the deep deep deep, she hears a willow of whales. They don't speak in vowels and consonants but sing of oceans and continents.

The #transport begins with a conscious needle gently lowered into your groove

round and round you go, crisp and clear until you crackle with wear

each orbit shorter

as you spin toward your centre

gathering dust and fluff until enough is enough

the needle lifts

silence

you are over.
