in 3 it is unrealistic that a confluence of like 5 different unlikely events would lead to you being trapped & burned alive in a tanning salon, in 4 it is unrealistic that people would be so stupid as to have a puree button lying in the open at a public pool

I think that's the difference, the deaths have to be so unlikely that they're inescapable. 4 is just wall to wall OSHA violations. that pool should be killing someone every day

ok i feel silly calling a final destination movie "contrived" but the deaths in the first 3 movies felt more or less inescapable even if it was the difference between putting a drink in a specific spot or somewhere else. in 4 it's like, is no one manning the "drain pool" lever? really

I like them! it's in the post scream era so I think there was some passive awareness that killing the bimbos with a tanning bed was a little misogynistic so they made them seem like genuinely nice friends to compensate

yes I do, like in a slasher u have to appreciate simpler things. all 3 movies I've seen so far have had the same premise but the third one wins because it gives u 2 misogyny bimbo stereotypes who die first but makes them likable so it just feels unfair and cruel instead of indulgent

i think this is a popular take. 1 was self serious and tense, 2 was mostly just really stupid and I was worried that the slapstick would keep me from feeling scared, 3 was even stupider but also so stressful it made me sick to my stomach
