For at the moment:

1. When it’s hard to go out: consistency beats motivation

2. When time is tight: something is better than nothing

3. Every day: Gratitude - there are people who would give anything to be able to do this.

4. If I miss a session: that’s ok. Tomorrow is a new day.
What did you do in your holidays? I’m doing Thought for the Day! Catch me live on BBC Radio Scotland at about 07.23, or catch up on Good Morning Scotland on BBC Sounds. #GMS

There is so much to celebrate about the life of Pope Francis, and therefore also a deep sense of loss at his passing.

He truly set an example of faithfulness to Christ. And how amazing that he has died in the context of Easter with its message of hope for salvation and new life. (1/3)
250% uplift in communicant numbers today compared to a ‘normal’ Sunday at St Anne’s Dunbar! Plus a baptism and the blessing of a civil partnership.
I think we can say ‘He is risen!’.
Oh, and a liturgical lace change, just in time for the festivities! ⚓️
Holy Saturday, and I literally found Jesus on Dunbar High St! I thought he was supposed to be busy harrowing hell?!
Give me Holy Saturday over Christmas Eve any day. #HolySaturday
Lest we forget how far the world has still to go, I just received a delivery (at home, in Scotland) from a driver who saw my dog collar and exclaimed (in broad Glaswegian)… “A wumman minister?! That the modern world, eh?!”
Reader, the Kirk has been ordaining women since 1968! 🤦‍♀️
From the Canons: “while the lectionary is based on the New Revised Standard Version, any version of the Bible which has not been prohibited by lawful authority may again be used.
Currently, no version of the Bible has been prohibited by lawful authority.”
I saw this debated elsewhere recently. I think the answer is it’s a modern innovation… and not universally loved.
There is apparently a Chrism Mass in the 10th century Gregorian Sacramentary, but no mention of renewal of ordination vows. @thurible.net may be able to expand…
What with all the toxic stuff going on in the world, I’ll take a rainbow whenever I can find one.
This looks tremendous! 🙌
Different world… 🤷‍♀️

❓ Heard of Dunbar Debt Advice Service?

🤝 The inter-church collaboration involves St Anne's Dunbar, the Salvation Army and other churches.

💷 Visit our bio link for the East Lothian Courier article on how the Service has helped 97 clients.

💰 They support anyone in need. Google 'Dunbar Debt Advice'.
This is an observation of the locals, incidentally… not what I’m doing! 🙈😂
Edinburgh, 11 degrees and sunny. Taps aff!
Farewell session with the youth at Harbour Lights Xtra this afternoon. These Friday sessions have been some of the most fun times in my ministry in Dunbar. As you can see, sometimes you can have your cake AND eat it.
But I lost my pool shark crown - you can tell by T’s smile!! ⚓️ #anglican

1. One of capitalism’s greatest successes is to shut down our imaginations. With the help of its favoured tools - neoliberalism and fascism - it persuades us that “there is no alternative”. Our first task is to re-ignite our moral imaginations and name our alternatives. 🧵
Good questions.
I hope you have a wonderful time in California!
Blessings on your own transition.
