This past week reminded me of something I already knew intellectually, but am still learning emotionally: Recovery doesn’t move in a straight line. Some days felt focused and productive. Others were heavy, quiet, or emotionally draining. And yet, when I step back and look at the week as a whole, something important is clear:

It’s been a little over two weeks since my role at FanDuel Sports Network came to an end. In that time, I’ve experienced a mixture of emotional highs, quiet challenges, moments of clarity, and more physical soreness than I expected.

As of last night, I have my observatory operating back at 100%! Its only been offline for a couple of years. But not not a half bad image of the galaxy M33 for using all new software that I barely know what I'm doing and a new camera.

Last week, I wrote about the shock, relief, confusion, and emotional whiplash that came with losing my job right before Thanksgiving. It was a week of letting things sink in, finding a new rhythm, and beginning to process everything that had led up to this point. This week, I wanted to take a step forward.

For the first time in probably months, I felt like doing some actual cooking rather than go get take out.  I decided I'd make my amazing chicken and sausage jambalaya. Everybody that has tried it has raved about it and I will admit its definitely my favorite thing to make even if it takes longer to make than some things. For those who see this picture and want to try to make it for themselves, here is the recipe.

As I have mentioned in my previous posts, I am working on a mobile app built in .NET MAUI called MoveableEats.  While I'm not quite ready to unveil it and what it is just yet, I thought I would write a quick post about my testing phase of building the app. The app itself is largely done at this point and I'm just going through and finding and fixing bugs. 

I've mentioned the name of the mobile app I'm working on in a few recent blog posts that I have worked on off and on for the last couple of years and now that I'm unemployed, I have finally had real time to dedicate to it.  After all the time I have put in on it in the last couple of weeks, the finish line is finally in sight!

The week started with shock, surged into relief, dipped into sadness, and eventually settled into a gentle rhythm I’m just beginning to understand.

Since I'm working on some cross-platform mobile development, I recently picked up at 2025 MacBook Air on Black Friday sale since I knew that to publish anything to the iOS App Store, you have to do it from a Mac.  The one thing I wasn't too sure of was how to set up my .NET MAUI development environment on VS Code since I am usually a full blown Visual Studio 2026 user.

I can't say I have done a ton of streaming on Twitch lately, mostly because its been just kind of an inconvenient experience, but that is about to change! I had an old Stream Deck I won as part of a contest that I never really got around to using, so I spent part of my morning getting it set up and ready to help make streaming more convenient so that I'm much more likely to want to stream.

Last week, after 3½ years with FanDuel Sports Network, I was let go from my role as a senior .NET software developer. It was unexpected, and like anyone going through a sudden transition, I’ve been feeling a mix of emotions — relief, sadness, uncertainty, curiosity about what comes next, and even a bit of excitement.

I think its obvious by now by my previous posts about The Witcher 3 and the fact that I have been streaming it on occasion on Twitch, that I am obsessed with the game.  For not being a huge RPG fan (not a fan of dealing with stats, upgrades, crafting, ect), I am absolutely loving the game.  So when I saw it on sale, I thought I should let everybody know because the deal is too good to pass up!

Probably about a year ago, I finally decided to give The Witcher 3 a try.  I wasn't a huge fan after like 5 hours or so of playing it so it went back into the backlog of games.  However, after attending The Witcher in Concert and seeing not only a ton of gameplay I had never seen but heard some of the best video game music in years, I decided to give it another go and I am so glad I did because now I'm obsessed with it!

Being obsessed with Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (and Yuri's Revenge) as a kid, this one really hits me right in the feels.  Yuri was a big part of my childhood and its a part that I love. RIP Udo Kier (Yuri)

After 3½ years with FanDuel Sports Network, yesterday marked my last day with the company. While the transition was unexpected, I’m choosing to view this moment as the beginning of a new chapter rather than the end of one. During my time at FanDuel Sports Network (previously named Diamond Sports Group), I had the chance to work on some truly meaningful and challenging projects — from optimizing critical internal processes to building GameDay360, the Blazor-based application used across the business to manage SportRadar and WhatsOn integrations.

Tonight, I plan on playing some of my first playthrough of The Witcher 3 on Twitch.  You can find the stream HERE. I expect to go live at approximately 8pm EST. If I have to cancel the stream or have technical issues, you can find out on my X / Twitter account.

One of my favorite ways to spend a Saturday night as at the symphony, especially when they are playing the music to a movie I love.  However, in this case its to a movie I had never even seen before. I have to admit, I have never seen either Top Gun movie before last night.  I've heard some of the music and even played the Top Gun game on NES as a kid, but this was my first time ever seeing one of the movies.

About a month ago, I got to see The Witcher in concert performed in Colorado Springs.  I can't say I had a ton of exposure to The Witcher games other than a few hours with the first game and a few with The Witcher 3 but I never stuck with it.  I did fall in love with the Netflix show The Witcher though.

With all of the remakes of video games we seem to get these days from remasters to complete remakes, if there is one game that really deserves it, I think that is Populous: The Beginning! I loved playing this game as a kid and it might be one of my all time favorite games.  After it being forever since I have touched it, I have recently started watching some playing of the game on Twitch and it has definitely hit the nostalgia nerve.
