The CIA like all other intelligence services shouldn't be trusted or revered. However intelligence services do spend a large chunk of their budgets on research and archives. This move impedes global research and validation.
The CIA just stopped publishing their World Factbook and took every page, including the archived copies of previous versions!

This sucks. It was public domain, so I recovered the 2020 edition (the last one published as a zip file) and shared it to GitHub simonwillison.net/2026/Feb/5/t...

This is the most thorough and damning argument against the markets AI pivot I've come across and I really appreciate the warnings against the delusion that even more copyright expansion and the megacorps will stop it.

Sinatra had many skeletons in his past but he actively campaigned against discrimination.
In 45 he filmed this short film aimed at teaching young audiences that bigotry was wrong.

Market forces have far greatrr impacts on wider society than simple consumer shares. Monopolisation and economic domination in any sphere should concern us all.
RAM production is limited to a handful of manufacturers: Micron, SK Hynix, and Samsung. They have a long standing record of setting prices (including illegally, they were prosecuted for it back when we had laws).

The way they do that is limiting the available stock of RAM chips in the market.

Seen news that a new techniqye for repairing bones is being pioneered in the People's Republic of China. I hope it pans out, it should be an important step forward in health care. It also gives me an opportunity to discuss patents, another form of IP control.
