Hoverflies are important non-bee pollinators. Yet, they remain overlooked in risk assessment when it comes to pesticides.

WildPosh researchers are trying to fill this gap by presenting a new oral toxicity test for Eristalinus aeneus, a widespread hoverfly species.

El polen de las flores de Crocus serotinus es abundante y muy pegajoso, acumulándose en mucha cantidad sobre el cuerpo de los visitantes florales. Aquí tenemos a una reina de Bombus terrestris en el acto mismo de frotar su frente rebozada de polen con los estigmas (parecen azafrán porque es azafrán)

Aprovecho para decir que estas ayudas son de las pocas maneras que tenemos los investigadores "jovenes" de dirigir proyectos aunque luego se nos vaya a penalizar en las evaluaciones por no haberlo hecho

La mayoría de Xylocopa negros que vemos son X. violacea, pero hay que estar atentos por si se nos cuela algún X. valga. A veces con fotos se pueden detectar. Aquí tenéis uno de hoy en Lavandula latifolia. Antena 11 piezas (macho) y longitud 1=2+3 (violacea sería 1=2+3+4)
