Hope my tone doesn’t come off as scoldy or like condescending but i do know learnng about this aspect or Orwells life was like shockingly disappointing and I too learned about it for the first time through being scolded on social media by an ultra lefty guy who was just kinda scoring points

Like 100% I highly encourage and recommend you just take some time when you have it to engage in some sort of media critical of Orwell from a left wing perspective. Hakim on yt has some good stuff. But like watch or read and just investigate the claims but be aware of the sources.

Im not saying throw out all of Orwell but even if some lefties want to be scolds and jump down your throat doesn’t mean the criticism of Orwell as a whole holds no water and isnt worth engaging with.

People always play up the value of Orwells works on the premise that 1984 was banned at one point but somehow forget how Animal Farm was required reading.

Its because Animal farm actively upholds the status quo by reinforcing state approved narratives about communist and socialist projects,

As well as a lot of his work is highly overvalued and he often engaged in a lot of bullshit horseshoe theory and actively promoted anti-communism at a time when Trade unionists and anti-racist activists where being jailed as suspected communists.

Girl i dont think you realize what your talking about because the reason leftists often are critical of Orwells legacy and the way liberals co-opt his works is because he was a racist and a snitch who legit would report people to the FBI as suspected communists.
