An afternoon of mostly cloudy skies created moments of fantastic light as seen here.

What must it be like to live in the old fire lookout watching over the burgeoning autumn season?

I've been reading George Masa's Wild Vision (Brent Martin) and I highly recommend it if you have any interest in NC/Appalachian photography. He's no small part in why we have the Parks and the Appalachian trail.

From July: My partner and I continued after the trail ended down an access road for municipal services. Taken w/ my Olympus XA (now w/ broken rewinder).

I noticed that! Some were completely overgrown and seemed to be a remnant from before the trees grew taller. Still lovely, but odd.
Nearing a wonderful time of year in the mountains. For ease, I rented a zoom for this trip compared to my usual "bag of primes". Must be nice for these zoom users to not have to walk so far!

spent a day on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Gorging myself on views and romanticizing the open road. Conspiring that I could van life or attempt a thru hike of this beautiful state. My final image of the evening.

This latest roll is fraught with issues, plus four negatives are missing from their sleeve. It's okay, accidents happen, sometimes chems are older, and labs are busy. Color shifts aside, many lack compositionally, which is all me.

I love the depth you can achieve this time of year. Some of the trees begin their change very early creating a subtle palette of color versus the stark wall of green during the mid summer.

My personal favorite from that hazy morning.

A fine rock to spend a morning on, featuring a belted kingfisher's prime perching spot.

I had to double check my negative to make sure this ghosting wasn't a scanning issue, and unfortunately, it's not. I think it detracts from the image I had in mind, but maybe someone else likes the effect?

I went slightly too wide on my aperture, but I think it still works.

From an evening walk at my usual haunt. Fast moving clouds closed in as sunset drew near, my image disappearing behind them.
I've spent many evenings this summer checking weather and airplane radar to get the image in my head onto a negative.

Had some wonderful light the other week in this section of the preserve. As summer winds down I am venturing out more often. I hope I can capture this late summer beauty before Autumn arrives. More to come.

I've been joking w/ my gf that most of my photos this summer have been documenting suburbia while on our evening walks. Whether it's our neighborhood or the trails nearby, it's evident that our town is filling in the gaps with housing everywhere they can.

A well-used forklift at the plant store. This is from my first color roll on my Olympus XA that I tore down and "fixed" (didn't break further).

Fighting heatwaves all summer 'cause the humidity is actually high enough to punch the air effectively

I really, really miss the cool mornings. The Southeast is boiling and I'm being reminded of weather terms like "wet bulb temperatures" and "the coolest summer of the rest of my life".
