&nd I like thinking about how Narziss would be like in the immediate aftermath of this awakening, I think he'd feel a bit directionless and confused. And he already always allowed Goldmund far more than he should have

I think I often draw Narziss a bit OOC, but I keep thinking about that end of the novel where his worldview is shattered (Goldmun's words burning like fire in his heart suggest the same kind of awakening that Goldmund went through)

Yes!! And it's not even Hesse's queerest book (in Steppenwolf, there's a female character seducing other women "by the way of Sappho", also implied to have slept with another female character). Though I like N&G the best π₯°
