I found a very young seal on the Griffiths Island causeway this morning, not looking too well. I reported it to the Marine Response Unit and they are monitoring it. Fingers crossed it's ok 🤞

We finished our afternoon by visiting the Sky Deck viewing platform at the Bitexco Financial Tower which basically looks like Tony Starks Tower from Avengers! 4/4
As we only had an afternoon, we then jumped on the Hop On/Hop Off City Sightseeing bus to get a feel for the city.

Ho Chi Minh City still has lots of beautiful French colonial buildings. We wandered this area by foot first, seeing the Grand Old Post Office (still with the original telephone booths inside!) and the Opera House.

We've had a fun last day in #Vietnam, exploring #HoChiMinhCity aka #Saigon.

We started at the Reunification Palace aka Independence Palace, which was built in the 1960s to replace the French colonial palace. It really is a time capsule from the 1960s!

A lone parakeet seems to have moved into our road 🦜 #parakeet #cliftonville #margate
The sun came out for our last day out in Margate before heading down under 🇦🇺

We started with a hearty Dalby Cafe breakfast and then checked out the latest exhibition at Turner Contemporary, followed by a walk across Margate Main Sands to The Sun Deck for smoothies.
After a rest and lunch, we returned to the square with our friends to have a celebratory toast , with Port we had carried all the way from Porto, 12 days ago at the very beginning of our walk. Salud!

The Camino wasn't too busy today, then we reached Praza do Obradoiro, in front of the cathedral, where we found all the pilgrims!

We visited the Pilgrims Office where our stamped credencials were verified and received our last stamp and our beautifully printed Compestela's.

Just past Faramello we saw the stone cross of Cruceiro de Francos, which is one of the oldest in Galicia.

Day 12: Padrón - Santiago de Compostela (26 km/16.1 miles)

Our final day of walking! It took us just over 4.5 hours to reach Santiago today, setting off in the dark. There was plenty of elevation and lots more walking through quaint villages and forests.

We entered Padrón along the avenue of trees Paseo do Espolón, before having lunch and finding our hotel. We were very disappointed to not find Padrón peppers on the menu at lunch!

We had a few cafe stops today to rest our weary feet and to try and make our second last day of walking last a little bit longer. Our first cafe stop today was to use the WiFi to secure tickets to see The Cure next year!

I'm running out of space for stamps in my Pilgrim Credencial passport so I'm having to reign in my stamp opportunities! I resisted a stamp from a bagpipe player today. However, I couldn't resist a stamp from the eccentric owner of bar Mesa de Pedra in the village of Infesta. 3/5
We set off later today so found ourselves walking with so many other pilgrims. I've never seen so many people walking! A few different pilgrim routes are converging for the last stage to Santiago, so it is getting much busier.

Day 11: Caldas de Reis - Padrón (22.5 Kms/14 miles)

Our penultimate day had us walking for 4 hours along small roads and woodland paths. The walk started off with a long steady climb but the rest of the day was mainly downhill and through valleys, woods and vineyards

In town, the large church Igrexa de Santo Tomás Becket is dedicated to the Archbishop of Canterbury who passed through in 1167.

It took 4.5 hours of walking to arrive in the thermal spa town of Caldas De Reis. Our swimming pool is certainly not thermal but it is wonderfully refreshing!

We did a short detour off the path into Parque Natural Ria Barosa to visit some beautiful waterfalls.
