In 2025, our Office rolled out a series of health care-related initiatives aimed at providing immediate relief and long-term solutions for Rhode Island’s health care system. Together, RI leaders must boldly act, with urgency and determination, to fix what is broken.

This year, we tackled violence in our communities in part by prosecuting individuals responsible for violent crime, seeking justice for victims & their families. Our Office remains staunchly committed keeping RI'ers safe by all means available to us.

Our Office is laser-focused on Roger Williams & Fatima. The continued viability of these safety-net hospitals is essential to ensure all RI'ers have access to quality care. Since January 20, the federal Administration has taken actions that extend far beyond the President’s constitutional authority, impacting the rights of Rhode Islanders in real time. Our Office is leading the charge, taking key issues to RI federal court & courtrooms across the country, & winning.

Consumers: we’ve got your back. So far in 2025, our Consumer Protection Unit has resolved 378 consumer complaints, resulting in over $1.2 million in value returned to Rhode Islanders, and still counting.

Our Cold Case Unit re-examines cases, develops new witnesses and evidence, and uses modern technology to identify those responsible. This October, in collaboration with local law enforcement, the Unit closed two decades-old homicide cold cases, delivering answers for the victims’ families.

This year, our victim services team worked tirelessly to support victims and their families across RI. In April, we hosted our annual Crime Victims’ Rights event in Memorial Park alongside local government, law enforcement, and advocates to honor local heroes and those affected by violent crime.

This year, we hosted our 27th annual Open Government Summit with 500+ attendees. Through educating the public about the Access to Public Records Act and the Open Meetings Act, while fielding APRA and OMA complaints, we prioritized accountability in state and municipal government in 2025.

This year, we sought further justice for victims of the opioid epidemic by going after those responsible for marketing these highly addictive drugs. To date, we have brought more than $315M in cash and lifesaving medication to RI, all of which will be used for treatment, prevention, and recovery.
