Looks like my tequila plant is on its way out 😞

I decided the winter months was the best time to build a bird house out of leftovers, hollowed out an old tree trunk cutting and roofed it with some old palm frond cuttings.

Quite pleased with the results, hope the birds are to.

A bit of trimming back in the garden, not quite sure what I’ll do with the trimmings, each leaf is over 20kg, razor sharp and very poisonous 🤔

The abnormally high temperatures this week have actually boosted the veg growth in my garden

If it gets any hotter I think my thermometer will have to guess as it has no numbers left 😳

If you had have told me in my 20’s that I’d end up as a ‘fluffer’ for butternut squash I would have laughed in your face, but here I am at 64 helping make plants ‘get it on’ with female plants 😳

Vegetable paella, cooked in the sun while drinking a beer, that really is living your best life

My first attempt at growing crops from scraps seems to be going well, seeds left over from cooking are all starting produce new crops.

The strange weather in Spain, with hot sun, high winds and lots of rain seems to have had a positive effect on my vegetables.

This is my first attempt at growing in Spain with seeds left over from cooking, I will update on how it goes.

The sun is out, so my solar array is generating more power than my car needs to charge, so free pollution free travel for me 😎

This weeks project has been setting up the bathroom in the guest house, trying to utilise left over or locally sourced tiles.

Not generally a big fan of plastic planters, but when Lidl is selling self watering ones of the right size for my outdoor kitchen in their sale, it was the ideal opportunity to get my herb garden on the go 😊

A day of mixed sun and showers has really boosted the growth of my tomatoes and bell peppers, helps it’s stayed in the 20’s all day.

This is my first year growing my own, so it’s all experimental, and fitting it in while building a summer house for the family to stay is ‘challenging’

The high winds killed off about 40% of my cherry tomatoes 😞, but the marigolds have started blooming, so hopefully I can attract some aphid eaters to keep them healthy going forward 🙂

In an effort to be more sustainable in comfort, I brought an all electric car, which I power from my solar panels. Although charge time is slow, I travel, in comfort, without any fuel costs, and the range more than covers 95%+ of the trips I need to take.

The most embarrassing thing about the countrywide power cut in Spain, is that despite being here, I didn’t even notice it 😳, the joy of a solar power system, satellite internet and well fed water is I’m not very reliant on the outside world 😊

A beautiful day in Tarragona Spain, bell peppers, onions, tomatoes and grapes are thriving in the sun after all the rain last month
