In the 2010s, the Icelandic tv station Channel 2 accidentally added subtitles from a gritty crime drama to an episode of Teletubbies.

I have translated some of the highlights
A screenshot of Lala and Po from the teletubbies. The screenshot is clearly taken from someone's phone, as the borders of the tv can be seen, as well as glimpses into the apartment behind them. Po is in bed wrapped up in a blanket. The text below them reads "I know you were high at my mother-in-laws funeral..." More screenshots from the Teletubbies. Lala seems to be upset with a terrified Po. the text below reads "Did you kill the dog? Why would you do that?!" A third screenshot from the Teletubbies, this time the same scene as before. Po is wearing an apron while Lala seems to still be upset at him. The text below reads "You're nothing but a failure of a man."

Today, I present the entire "Calling Gloria" storyline from my #StrangerThings #webcomic, because this is one of the last few days it will make sense. Published in 2023, it speculates on the end of the series and El's possible sacrifice. And, well, here we are!

Mike and El are at the county fair "So what do you want to do next?" "Let's check out the fortune teller." "I don't know, Mike." "What are you afraid of?" "That she could actually DO IT?" "Come on...you know this stuff's fake, right?" She gives him a weird look "Well YOU'RE real, you're OBVIOUSLY real! I mean stuff like THIS is rigged. You got nothing to worry about. I'll show you..." "Hmmmmmm....oh! Oh my! I must say congratulations! This is one of the strongest connections I've ever felt between two people!" ( Mike and El blush ) "But I also sense great anxiety in both of you...anxiety about your future...." 'Let's see if we can peer into the mists and see what awaits you....." "NO -- STOP!!!" "What is it?" "I don't WANT to know my own future!" "Why....not...." "Mike...there are really only two possibilities...we either make it or we don't...and if we DON'T...do you really want to know that for DEFINITE?" "Uh....uh....maybe we should try the Hall of Mirrors instead..." "NO! YOU ALREADY PAID! Come to Gloria!" "I'll tell you how this works...I can't show you a DEFINITE future...but I can show you some POSSIBLE outcomes! Things that MIGHT happen to you! Not will! Might!" "And...this is all confidential, right?" "Oh, Gloria keeps ALL things secret! It'sthe Soothsayer's Code!" "Here's one possible direction your path could take you..." Flash forward sequence: Mike and El are standing in front of a glowing white portal. "This is it, Mike! Once I enter this portal, I'll be able to shut down all our enemies and destroy the Upside Down ONCE AND FOR ALL! But it comes with a cost....in order to ensure our victory and make sure the portal stays closed...I must...SACRIFICE MYSELF!"

El: "Some people view kindness as a form of weakness...and cruelty as a form of strength. Except when people are cruel to them, then they don't like it." Mike: "You'd think the Golden Rule wouldn't be THAT hard to understand." El: "Most cruel people are just dumb. Or they're upside-down." El: "But they're wrong." She looks at him and smirks: "You can be empathetic and still kick a TON of ass."

I've noticed I get a bump of new followers on Bluesky every time "Stranger Things" trends, which is only going to happen a finite number of times. I'd best make the most of it.

One of my favorite scenes from Animaniacs is Yakko's bit from Christmas Plotz, where the scene just suddenly turns into a Bubsy Berkeley musical number on a staircase.

Not only is it animated beautifully, this is the "third ghost" part of the story, so it's the OPPOSITE of what you'd expect.
