Such a pity Farage’s dicky ticker kept him home today and unable to comment. But thats what smoking three packs a day does.

Got to wonder what is going to happen to Reform without him.

Democrats should introduce a bill to make Greenland a state, with a House member and two Senators to be elected immediately.
January 18, 2026 at 9:13 PM
The Iranian opposition will turn to armed uprising.
January 18, 2026 at 8:16 PM
Assume Trump invaded and has control of Greenland and the Democrats win the trifecta in 2028. At that point, they could use a really weird trick.

First annex Greenland as a new state with a House member and two Senators, then withdraw all US forces from the territory.

Irony here is that Putin isn’t likely to survive long enough to benefit from. The Russian army has been utterly smashed in Ukraine and will not threaten Europe for a generation even if the Russian Federation survives defeat in Ukraine.
January 18, 2026 at 8:07 PM
Trump is delivering two key wins for Putin here.

First, the destruction of NATO which will never be the same.

Second, the complete destruction of the war party in the US. There are no viable presidential candidates left. Rubio and Cruz have both disqualified themselves.

The primary campaign became impractical because of the pandemic. The reason the other candidates agreed on Biden was he was too fucking old to run for a second term...

Best laid...

I am just astonished anyone can read this stuff and not ask if the man is senile.

How could anyone imagine this scheme works?

Only a tiny number of folk knew what Caligula was up to and the alternative was to risk civil war.

And the vast majority of the censorship laws were brought in on the pretext of ‘protecting free speech’

At the very time the government was trying to do things with urgency, every federal agency was paralysed for 12 months as people worked out how the new organization would work.

It was a Joe Lieberman shit show.
January 17, 2026 at 2:45 PM
The GWB administration opposed DHS. Creation of DHS was an egotistical scheme of Joe Lieberman's that took root in Congress while the administration was busy trying to form a plan to attack Al Qaeda.

It was a way for GOP Senators to look busy but it damaged the response to 9/11.

At that point, Clinton had won a majority of the elected delegate seats, she also had a majority of the superdelegate seats.

Of course political activists who want to elect a Democrat get furious when a guy refuses to accept he lost and continues to attack the person who won.
January 17, 2026 at 2:38 PM
The DNC didn't decide who the nominee was in 2016, you are repeating Russian disinformation.

The emails hacked by Russia were written AFTER Bernie had lost the nomination but insisted on continuing his campaign despite having no mathematical chance of winning.

I am thinking that if the Ellison crew try to unwoke Trek, there will be more than just a revolt, there will be a fork.

Its not like Trek has a monopoly on space flight,
January 17, 2026 at 4:05 AM
Thing is, she has decades ahead of her. She doesn't need to rush into a Presidential run. Its not just getting the job that matters, you have to know how to make the most of it.

Biden was a devastatingly effective President because he had such deep experience. Trump is not.
January 17, 2026 at 4:02 AM
House to the Presidency is a real hard move, House to Senate to President much easier.

2028 cycle is the last time it will make good sense for AOC to move up to the Senate as she is accruing a lot of seniority.
January 17, 2026 at 4:02 AM
Another big structural problem for the industry is the sales channel is controlled by dealerships that make much of their money on after sales service. Which is very much reduced for EVs.
January 17, 2026 at 3:51 AM
AOC has to be persuaded to run for Schumer’s Senate seat rather than president.
January 17, 2026 at 2:15 AM
I am thinking that every one of the lawyers who agree to investigate or prosecute these Trumped up cases should be disbarred and banished from public service for life.

Powertrain was a high margin component only a handful of manufacturers could make. Batteries and motors are low margin commodities.

So that $30K car with a $6K margin is now a $20K car with a $2K margin.

See the problem?
January 16, 2026 at 9:48 PM
About $13K of the cost of a mid sized sedan such as a Camry or Accord selling for $30K is the powertrain and support components. Those are being replaced by a $3,000 battery and motor combined.

That's not just $13K of the price, it is maybe $4K of the $6K margin on the car.
January 16, 2026 at 9:48 PM
The big problem for the automakers is that they don't really sell cars, they sell engines, gearboxes and a finance package. The car is just a box to sell the high margin powertrain.

Its not just that EVs are replacing ICE, they are comodifying the powertrain.
January 16, 2026 at 9:48 PM
The trap the big three have put themselves in is known as the innovator's dilemma. Faced with a new technology that threatens to erode margins, the incumbent manufacturers try to move upmarket to preserve profits.

It always fails because the new technology replaces the high margin products as well.
January 16, 2026 at 9:48 PM
No, Trump wants people to blame someone other than him when the electricity bills go up because of Musk's pedophile porn engine.
