Richard Hassall is one of my philosophical opponents but whom I am on good terms with. Always worth paying attention to what they say:
This week, Richard Hassall presents his upcoming paper in Journal of Medicine and Philosophy: 'The Institutional Status of Medical and Psychiatric Diagnoses'. In which he explores the power of the speech act of diagnosis, going beyond a statement of fact.

I briefly discuss some related issues about the difficulties of obtaining empirical evidence right at the end of the book. There I was happy enough with the line that careful use of fictional and detailed nonfictional examples is enough (on the former, agreeing with @alex-fisher.bsky.social)
This week, Kasper Møller Nielsen, Julie Nordgaard, and Mads Gram Henriksen present their recent publication on a critical perspective of epistemic injustice in healthcare, addressing underlying scientific, conceptual, and theoretical issues.

"core claims concern, for ex., [...] the nature of the identity prejudices that clinicians are said to harbor toward the patients they treat. We could not identify any empirical study examining or supporting these claims."

hope the xphi paper @ivarr.bsky.social and I have under review can help.🤞

This project was an absolute dream come true, as was meeting the wonderful Sir Stephen Fry who narrated the shows.

We had wonderful support from the #philosophy community in this journey to bring critical thinking and #oracy to children no matter what their background.
