After years of wanting a 3D printer, I finally got my hands on a (used) Bambu Lab X1 Carbon today.

The 7-year-old and I printed a simple articulated gingerbread man, and the look on his face when he held his new toy was priceless.

Definitely a plus… But that needs to go alongside proper coverage collection and analysis, as there are always a few edge cases that end up needing some manual work… That’s why I wrote COV8: www.npmjs.com/package/@plu...

It also runs standalone! 🤩

Dreaded this weekend for A LONG time: NPM removed classic tokens and here I am spending my Friday night moving all our open projects to the new OIDC trusted publishing thingy… 🤷

I truly hate when websites serve me German content because my IP geolocates me in Berlin 🇩🇪…

There is a f***ing “accept-language” header in each and every one of my browser’s HTTP requests, and nowhere in there it says “DE”!

How hard is it to honor it???

I have put together a (long overdue!) draft RFD on using LLMs at @oxide.computer, but I know that there is a ton more to be said on the topic; thoughts and experiences welcome!

... and here I am, 27 years after Java Servlets, Apache JServ and Tomcat, once again thinking about HTTP frameworks!

Feels like going back to the beginning of time!

I wrote my first program around 45 years ago on a VIC20: it was a little thing to archive my mum's cooking recipes.

Here I am 45 years later, drawing architectural diagrams and database tables to run our kitchen in Ettlingen, producing thousands and thousands of meals per day...

Beyond being broken beyond belief (don’t get me started) iOS 26 is a nightmare for folks like me with presbyopia (read, we’re old as fuck and can’t see close shit no more)… If I want a chance to read my notifications, I can’t have a colorful/bright background anymore: I truly hope this helps!
Here's How the iOS 26.1 Transparency Toggle Changes Liquid Glass
Here's How the iOS 26.1 Transparency Toggle Changes Liquid Glass
With the fourth beta of iOS 26.1, Apple added a toggle that makes Liquid Glass more opaque and reduces transparency. We tested the beta to see where the toggle works and what it looks like. Subscribe to the MacRumors YouTube channel for more videos. If you have the latest iOS 26.1 beta, you can go to Settings > Display and Brightness to get to the new option. Tap on Liquid Glass, then choose "Tinted." The Tinted option increases the opacity of Liquid Glass UI elements and improves contrast, while the Clear option is the standard Liquid Glass look. Apple's new option looks different in both light and dark mode, increasing opacity in color consistent with each option. It works for Lock Screen notifications and within apps to make menu and navigation bars less transparent, but there is little to no change with other parts of the OS like Control Center, the App Library, and app icons and widgets on the Home Screen. iOS 26.1 beta 4 is only available to developers right now, but a public beta should be coming soon. We're expecting iOS 26.1 to be released later in October, and that's when everyone will have access to the new settings. After Japan earlier today, Europe is waking up to see some major outage at Twilio… And that’s bringing with it MAJOR disruptions with 2-factor authentication (I mean, your TOTP tokens won’t work).

Already saw it on at least 3 different websites!

Don’t roll your own auth, they said 😭
