Dark and light
Yin and Yang
Life finding a way
Hope not lost
Always possibilities
Time to create
Hands of light and dark, filled with each other. My self canvas and art play. Necklace gifted by a lovely and true to heart woman who lived to be almost 101 years old who often told me, “enjoy it while you can.” I share that with you now. Don’t wait to find joy. It is all around you if you open up to it. I have known many sorrows like most people, yet I believe we are not meant to carry them around like a dead mule on our heart. I think that sorrow is our first reaction to heartache, and it is perhaps meant to soften over time and become a balm that holds the cracks in our hearts together, not to keep us broken.

Gifted name: Pinecliffwoman
Given name: Pam

A heart seeks to express itself. What is a life filled with? What memories? What heartbreaks? What dreams yet to come? When one truly sees our heart and us, it breaks us wide open to joy. I dance and celebrate the blessings, the soul soaring, the longings filled, the possibilities of joy to come. The love that transcends distance when one sees with the heart is amazing. 🐬

Curiosity brings JOY
Glass illuminated green holiday tree candle nestled among greenery.

Curiosity update:
Almost a month ago I started posting holiday pics with the note “Curiosity brings JOY”. I make handmade cards for most of the major festive holidays each year. That brings me JOY and challenges my design skills. My idea is to share cards with the curious and spread some JOY as I am made for that rather than political commentary or legal reviews. Neither of which I am trained nor meant for. I leave that to those that have that gift.

So JOY, a bit of a quandary on how to share with anyone here who would like a card. It opens me up to anyone, risky yes, but hopefully to the good peeps here. That means sharing info and I know most people here want to remain as anonymous as possible. I totally respect that. I wear my heart on my sleeve and try to share kindness with everyone I meet. Totally a good thing, but in moving forward with sharing a card and some JOY here, I know it is a whole different ball game. If you met me in person you would most likely have a new friend. Here, you only know me by my posts and likes to your posts. Some of you have gotten to know me better through chat.

Anyway, I would still like to share a card and JOY. Working out a way to let you keep your privacy and mine as much as possible. I would need at least a working mail address and even part of your name to get a card to you, like P. Smith or like that. If you are still curious, I think a DM to me closer to the end of Oct will be a start. Most likely I can only mail in US. If you might be interested, I need to know so I can plan card numbers. Will begin mailing out by the end of November.

I know this all sounds a bit far out crazy, I get it. There is absolutely no catch whatever and you won’t be on any mailing lists. If you are game and curious, keep watch for my next holiday post next Friday. One card per address, per name.🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄🎄JOY JOY JOY🎄🎄🎄

Mushroom is not poisonous but great name: Phallus impudicus
Stinkhorn
In her garden today.

Photo is by and from the garden of SJ. Discovered today. Stinkhorn seen growing among twigs, fallen leaves, small fern and small garden rocks and other fall debris. Creamy hollow stalk and very distinct patterned and slimy cap. Was told it smells like rotting meat.

Ready for spooky season.
A smile for your day 🤗🩵

Costume gets handed down through all pups. Former occupant enjoyed, er, tolerated, wearing it well last 15 years old.

Cream colored retriever puppy in orange and green pumpkin costume ready for the spooky season. Sitting on a tile floor next to a pumpkin the same color as her and and actual pumpkin stuffy to play with.

He posted last night. Well worth a watch in some upcoming weather issues like potential east cost and southwest flooding. He is on top of weather issues. Not affiliated with him. If you follow me you know I have referred him many times because of his professional knowledge, honesty and accuracy.

Male pumpkin flower
Close up

A close up shot of the male pumpkin flower center. With these pics by BB it was the first I ever knew there was such a huge difference in the male and female pumpkin flowers. You can see the tiny yellow hairs in the center of the flower. A tiny bit of green of the plant shows at the top of the photo, See ALT in the other two pumpkin flower postings just before this one for more detail.

Female pumpkin flower
Detail from the previous post

See ALT for details
Close up of a female pumpkin flower. Lovely yellow flower center shows the perfect complexity of the flower. BB took a QTip and pollinated the flowers. The flower is seen against the background of the cement. It was a volunteer plant that came up in a crack in the cement against the house on the patio. Some of the vines and leaf can be seen behind the flower. Given the lateness in the season the pumpkins may not get very big. See photo of the two flowers for more detail on this plant.

Late bloomers

Pumpkin flowers

Volunteer pumpkin flowers. They came up late in the season out of a tiny crack next to the house. The beautiful yellow flower bases show where the pumpkins will grow. The little green forms are just taking shape. Because they are late in the season they most likely won’t get very big with the cooler weather just around the corner. The lovely green vines trail back to the crack in the cement. One fall leaf is also in the patio near the front flower.

Each year after the pumpkins have been enjoyed often for Halloween and even as Christmas decorations on the front porch, the family gathers for the annual ‘smashing pumpkins’ fest. The pumpkins are gathered and thrown off an upper deck onto the cement patio. They are then picked up and often composted. A seed must have flown over and found refuge in the one bit of close dirt it found. This is how the volunteer pumpkin came about in the little crack. “Where there’s a will, there’s a way.”

Window love

She loves to look at the other doggie in the window 🩵💙💜
Year old pup looks loves to sit and look out this window and to see her reflection. Her gentle energy is wonderfully infectious.

Collegiate Peaks
Mount Princeton
Colorado

After a snow that started the base for the winter season.
Mount Princeton of the Collegiate Peaks range after a snow last fall about this time. In the foreground are fall plants and grasses. At the base of the mountain is a stand of nearly bare aspen trees. The snow is only on the very high top of the mountain and storm clouds play on the peaks still. A beautiful blue Colorado sky fills the remainder of the upper part of the photo. Mount Princeton Hot Springs are just up the road a bit if you turn off Highway 24 and head west. Cabins and motel like rooms available up there. Chalk Cliffs are also on the same road. You can also drive farther up the mountain and come to St Elmo, an old ghost mining town. Chipmonks abound to feed outside the little store there. There are many four wheel/SUV suitable roads to explore up in the area. Would skip taking a low framed car in the area unless you stay on the main roads. Gorgeous in the fall. There are restrooms at a little pull off closer St Elmo too but not in town. Enjoy if you go 😎🚙🌲

Hanging out in Boulder a bit today. Didn’t get pics of all the beautiful trees or the Flatirons, but had a yummy meal. Some call Boulder “50 square miles surrounded by reality” but I have always liked it. Lots of interesting activities and people here. Good pumpkin bagels here at Moe’s.
Floral lighted sign at eatery in Boulder. Moe’s bagels all decorated for spooky season.

Last of the fall colors in the valley.
Forgot to post this last week.

Autumn Aspen at 10,000+ feet
Colorado high country
Aspen leaves donned in beautiful yellows, oranges and almost a bright melon color. A few greens are mixed in too. This one area, close to the main road out of the valley, usually has some lovely colors. Tall green lodge pole pine shown on right of photo and in upper back grown going up the side of the mountain. The aspen branches and trunks are actually light colored, the light in this photo makes them look dark. A bit of cool blue sky peeks through at the top right corner of the photo.
