Poor Alice is so scared of getting the MRI. Shes convinced she's somehow got metal in her body that we don't know about that is going to get ripped out when it starts.

A couple years ago my neighbor who is meticulous about his lawn/house/cars spent a full week laying down pavers in his park strip. We are used to watching him spend a full day, I'm talking 10+ hours, detailing all three of their cars every fall, so it wasn't out of character but it was a LOT.

A hurt her thumb when E rolled on her on the trampoline a few months ago. It didn't get better on its own so we got an X-ray, not broken. Still bothering her a month later so we went to the Dr, who sent us to a specialist, who I assumed would send us home with a better brace. Nope. Surgery likely.

E's bad teacher had a sub for a whole week and she says the sub was even worse. The sub wouldn't let them use their Chromebooks because she said she knew they'd just be playing games. Literally all their work for this class is on their Chromebooks (which is one of our complaints abt the class!) 🙃

Emailing people and telling them how much I appreciate their work is my way of coping with this hellscape of reality. So thanks for helping my kid, middle school librarian! My 2nd grader loves the class elf, teacher! Thanks for hosting D&D for my tweens, city librarian!

These are the same people who cry persecution if someone wishes them happy holidays.
There's a post over on Twitter that I've been laughing to myself about. Some right-wing guy is celebrating that a school took down "All-Gender" bathroom signs and replaced them with "Single Occupancy Restroom" signs. And like... it's the same thing, man. You're celebrating a pointless relabeling.

Our state legislature passing a resolution condemning both the UT Supreme Court and Judge Gibson (judge who set aside gerrymandered map and instated one of the plant off maps since the leg refused to draw a non-gerrymandered map) is really something. Everyone's a liberal activist judge!

Local story of a hiker who got trapped in quicksand in Arches. Some yahoo comes in to Monday morning quarterback and the actual guy from the article came in and set him straight. Love to see it.

Hannah has been resisting Xmas PJs the last few years, so this year I bought us matching Stranger Things Christmas sweaters and she snatched it up and wore it to school today. So I guess we are doing matching Christmas sweaters instead of PJs from now on!

GOP lawmakers plan to repeal the anti-union law themselves in order to avoid what would be an embarrassing defeat at the hands of Utah voters at the ballot box in November.
Lawmakers will repeal anti-public union law during a special session, GOP leaders say
The Utah Legislature will have a busy special session this week — to include repealing an anti-public union law they passed earlier this year.

This is how scared our legislature is. I'm glad they're repealing this awful bill, but the only reason they're doing it now is because they're afraid of yet another ballot initiative passing.

I've struggled for years with gift idea lists for my kids. Ive tried s note on my phone (ok), amazon lists (hate), just thinking of things off the top of my head (hate) and today I finally just sat down and made an excel sheet with links. Now when my fam asks for ideas the week before Xmas I'm set.

Ok, I have finished shopping for all the kids except E, who I have zero ideas for 😵‍💫

I have read 32 books this year which is my highest count ever I think. Yay for disassociating!

Emily's friend is spending the day at our house because she is not interested in attending her sister's all-day cheer competition an hour away. So far she's been here two hours hanging around with Alice while all my other kids are asleep.

I am actively looking to get rid of some of our streaming services because this has gotten out of hand... and at the same time I subscribed to Starz because it's $12 for the year right now and I have several seasons of Outlander to catch up on 🙃

The whole "fog of war" doesn't really hold up when you were "fighting" the "war" remotely from a completely safe location. If you can't keep a clear head in that situation then you are too emotional for the job my man.

Feeling down on myself for not getting my entire house cleaned (again) so what I DID do:
Took the dog on a little hike
Canceled a CC
Finished all the Xmas cards &dropped at PO
Dealt with stupid billing issues for M's speech therapy
Went to the store/picked up rx
Ordered some Xmas gifts
Vacuumed

I absolutely have to go to the grocery store this afternoon so I'm putting it off as close to school pickup as possible because I hate myself

Canceling a credit card I only got for bonus miles and man, they don't like that! The rep told me "I'd just hate for you to have to pay for your checked bags if you do end up flying Delta this year. I would rather you have it and don't need it than need it and don't have it!"

I am begging one, JUST ONE, congressional reporter to follow up with Mike Johnson by asking, "What are the American people to make of a Speaker of the House who tells us daily that he's not aware of what's happening on Capitol Hill and the White House?"
