Bar

This was my view from breakfast at La Perche in Hudson, NY. I would show you the absolutely insane French Toast I had for breakfast, but that photo didn’t come out. Pentax 17, Harman Phoenix II, ECN-2 development.

Tattoo & Piercing

This is right across the street from my favorite dive bar and restaurant in St. Augustine, Planet Sarbez. I took a photo of it a few months earlier and the neon sign said “Today is Tattoo Day”. I texted it to my wife with the […]

Shirley and Moviola

I’ve known Shirley for something like 35 years. We met up with her at Dromfest. Here she is shooting video of Moviola. She’s dating the drummer, who she was also in a band with back in the 1990s. Pentax 17, Harman Phoenix II, ECN-2 development.

Dentato’s

Stuff moves around on the boardwalk. Dentato’s and Berkeley Candy both used to be in other places. Berkeley moved after their original shop burned down with half of the boardwalk several years ago. Dentato’s moved more recently to get a […]

Moviola

It’s probably 25 years or so since the first time I saw Moviola on a visit to Columbus. This was the most recent time I’ve seen them, at Dromfest, outside at Return Brewing Outpost. They just keep putting out good music. Pentax 17, Harman […]

Construction

Hard to get into the Funky Pelican with all the barrels and such surrounding it. Leica R4, Kodak Plus-X (expired 1994, shot at EI 80), Rodinal 1:50.

A building is surrounded by fences and barrels. A sign on the low part of the building reads “Funky Pelican”. There is a high pitched roof at the right end of the building, perpendicular to the rest of the building, and huge letters attached to the roof that read “Flagler Beach FLA”.

Kohr’s

There are several of these on the boardwalk in Seaside Heights. None of them are open on a Monday morning. Smartflex 3445, Kodak Tri-X 320 TXP, Rodinal 1:50, Kodak Anastigmat No. 33 lens.

#BelieveInFilm
This place is a typographic nightmare. A sign on the roof says “Kohr’s The Original Since 1919” attached to a two scoop ice cream cone. The face of the building facing the boardwalk says the following: “Coca Cola enjoy summer Frozen Custard and Ice Cream Kohr’s The Original Since 1919 P J’s Place Seaside Heights NJ Coca Cola enjoy summer Kohr’s The Original Since 1919 Kohr’s The Original Since 1919 Coca Cola Coca Cola.” The side of the building is similarly festooned, but you really don’t want me to write all that crap down here.

Cable Cars

Took the Smartflex 3445 to Seaside Heights on Monday morning. I wanted to test some lenses. Surprisingly, two of the three I brought would not focus to infinity, the Schneider-Kreuznach Symmar-S 180mm and the ancient Bausch & Lomb 7-1/2 […]
