Actually, the 3.5% figure refers to sustained, active participation in nonviolent resistance, not just protests. That includes strikes, boycotts, sit-ins, and other forms of disruption. The research didn’t exclude labor actions, it defined success by the level of disruption, not the method.

We don’t need 11 million to strike, just 3.5% of the workforce (~5.8 million people). We had that in the streets on No Kings Day, thanks to Women’s March, Indivisible, and 50501 sharing it with their networks.
Now imagine what we could do if we all stopped working and shopping on the same day.

I’m not saying France is perfect. I’m saying that when their rights are threatened, they strike and it works. Other countries do the same. This isn’t about copying their politics. It’s about matching their courage to defend democracy through collective action.

There’s already a group organizing a national general strike. 300K+ people signed up and working on it.

What they don’t have is the reach. Indivisible, Women’s March, and 50501 just need to pick a date and share it.

Most people already know what to do. The pandemic was practice.

I know it’s not just up to Indivisible, and I appreciate the education. But if Indivisible, Women’s March, 50501 picked one strike date and shared it with their networks, we could reach 5.8M+ workers—3.5% of the workforce—and force real change. We saw their reach on No Kings Day.
