Retired book publisher and author, medievalist, photographer, Soto Zen student, early musician, San Francisco resident since 1967, unrepentant hippie. Like Bluesky, life is plenitudinous.
I was told there would be finger-painting class today.

Reading this NYT article is a bit of a long slog, but is ample evidence how federal lower court federal judges have taken over defending the Constitution in place of the Supreme Court, which has apparently abandoned it.

Annotating the Judge’s Decision in the Case of Liam Conejo Ramos, a 5-Year-Old Detained by ICE (Gift Article)
Our critic annotates the barbed wordplay of a decision challenging the Trump administration’s theory of executive power.

Sorry, Zhou Dynasty was 11th to 3rd century BC.

At first glance I thought this must be some exotic species of insect, but it turned out to be a wine vessel from the Western Zhou Dynasty 12th-11th c. BC. Don't ask me how it wound up in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. I would use it to store my THC edibles.

ICE agents firing tear gas cannisters at protesters in Minneapolis, ferociously costumed for the event, as if embattled with murderous invaders from outer space. You can't help but wonder what kind of ridiculous phantasy they've found themselves hired to perform. Photo: Craig Laissig. #minneapolis

Dante Gabriel Rossetti is shown reviewing proofs in 1882 in the drawing room of his house at 16 Cheyne Walk, London SW3, built in 1817. Note the cool carpet and tiled fireplace. Painting by Henry Treffry Dunn, 1882.

I think Mozart would have liked this update of the dalla Croce portrait (age 16) by Royalty Now, being something of a smart-ass in his teen years, and the only German composer I can think of with a lively sense of humor. His birthdate is January 27th, 1756.
