I directed a feature once and continue fighting to do it again.

I know everyone is (rightfully) focused on the No Kings protest, but I also want to show off the wild spread of DVDs I picked up today at Vidiots’ International Video Store Day Sale.
I read about this clip and it is 1000% wilder than I expected. What a dunce.
and another thing: he’s not mad. please don’t put it in the newspaper that he got mad.

I'll tell you, I'd be less anti-Ai if it was actually being presented as a helpful tool if I want it instead of this all-encompassing lifestyle that I must embrace.

Shit sucks and I hope all those companies go bankrupt tomorrow.
My PS3, after a glorious 16 years, has died. She’s been a workhorse and worked longer than she needed to.

I’ll be accepting condolences and old DVDs on her behalf while we plan her Viking funeral.

Please keep our physical media needs in your thoughts and prayers.
I like to think of it as the middle part of John Carpenter unofficial ‘aliens take over’ trilogy. It starts with Starman (aliens and humans can mate) goes to CotC (seeding the population) and ends with They Live (where aliens have taken over).
Spotted our neighborhood enforcer snoozing on the job.
I just rewatched this last week and loved it. The man knows how to work a scene.
You ever feel like you was being watched? #caturday
A solid good time.

Is it weird the older I get, the more I want big swings like Jason X than lukewarm remakes like that 2009 one?
Two movies we don’t talk about enough, one we probably talk about too much, and one that’s on its way to being forgotten. Fun stuff!

Me when I talk to anyone in the entertainment industry about pivoting.
Well, obviously it's a reference to the fact that Sunfire quits everything he's a part of, so he clearly quit the Marvel U for a bit to join DC... And then quit again.

Meanwhile Amadeus is just too rad to be contained in one Universe.
In the end, at least the only thing I lost (from what I can tell) is two hours of my Tuesday and a bit of faith in the job search process.

Everything is so fucked right now, it sucks that we have to be double extra vigilant, but apparently that's how it is. Be careful out there and good luck.
I double checked the email and did a search for consultant . com and sure enough, there was a trail of B2B scams they had been involved in.

With that the haze of excitement parted and all the red flags were so fucking obvious. It was a definite hit to the ol'ego.
As we ended the questions portion, my Ai friend informed me they would run the answers by the hiring board and get back to me.

Which they did. An hour later.

You'll never guess, I got the job. They agreed to my rate, plus benefits, and I would start immediately.

This is when I knew it was a scam.
The interview was pretty standard, if oddly formatted. "Tell me of a time you struggled and succeeded", "greatest achievement", "What's your rate", "How do you handle working remote", "what was your last job"; Nothing that speaks to a scam, and exactly what you'd expect from an Ai interview..
It became clear immediately that I was chatting with an Ai Agent. However, I know there's been an adoption of using said agents for early interviews AND the company was a Silicon Valley health start up, I figured it was the new normal, so I played along.

For two hours.
After setting up a teams account, I contacted the point person - Who, I might add, I looked up on LinkedIn and her name/picture/title all lined up with the email - and inadvertently started the interview process. Because, it wasn't contact to establish a time, it was to interview. Another red flag.
Red Flags like:
- I didn't remember applying for this job
- Setting up an interview the day I got the email.
- An interview via Teams
- An email from consultant . com

But in the haze of excitement, I pressed on and prepped for the interview
So yesterday morning I woke up to an email congratulating me on getting to the interview stage of the process. As anyone who has applied to anything on Linkedin (or anywhere online) you know these kinds of emails are rare, so it was pretty exciting. Exciting enough I overlooked the red flags...
I think I ought to elaborate for prosperity and the vain hope that it helps someone else not get caught in the same trap. So come along while I take you on a journey of job offers, red flags, and how the world is becoming a horrible place. Come on, it'll be fun?
I got got by a job scam today.

Luckily, the only thing they got was nonsense stories of my experiences and a couple hours of my time, but dang, still sucks.

We showed the kid Labyrinth for the first time last night and I was a bit worried that it could be a bit too scary for her OR be too old for her and she'd check out.

However, as soon as those Goblins popped on screen she was totally engaged. Them puppets is magic.

Even better: No Nightmares!
It’ll be interesting to see if the Absolute titles can keep generating excitement once the “see this old character but extreme” excitement runs out and the creative team moves on.
