My debut album (by Sky Patterns) is now available on limited edition hand-numbered CD in a full colour digipack gatefold sleeve and 8-page glossy booklet.

Hahaha strangely enough, I must have missed that. Quite a lot of Susan Boyle and Daniel O'Donnell. Quite refreshing really, as it's always Robbie Williams CDs around these parts 😄
Wow! I was in one in Wales last week and the entire Katherine Jenkins catalogue was in there. I left it on the shelf.
That's a very decent haul. I rarely, if ever, see Beatles albums in charity shops.
I may do that for the return journey. I quite enjoy a walk - and that will burn off some of the calories from a hearty Scottish breakfast! 😁
Thanks, Dougie. I'm up in Edinburgh early next year. It looks to be maybe 25 mins' walk from the castle, so I'll make a special effort to visit.
No, I saw plenty of other stuff there too. I only had a few mins, as I was on my way to somewhere else, but the sales guy said that there was a load of vinyl downstairs too.
I visited Jack White's 'Third Man Records' shop in London a few weeks back. A yellow record shop is a thing of real beauty. Lots of great records inside - plus a nice selection of guitar FX pedals too.
Cob Records in North Wales originally set up shop in 1967. These days, it's stacked mainly of thousands of secondhand CDs, and there's also quite a bit of vinyl. You'll require several hours to go through all the racks. The Ffestiniog Railway is located directly opposite.
It's a pleasure, Vincent. Hope you enjoy.
Thanks, Vincent. I've been writing a lot of music in recent months, and if anything, the songs are getting even darker. I didn't set out to write dark songs, they've just kind of gone in that direction. I'm really excited to hear what you think once it's released.
Yup, this pretty much marries up with my own thoughts. I haven't booked tickets to see them, I've seen them many times over the years, but I'm not quite sure how I feel about Jimi not being present in the touring band.
Thanks, Vincent. The second album is almost complete. The recording is all done, I just have a few tweaks here and there. I'm absolutely thrilled with it. It's a different sound than 'Answers', darker in tone, with more electronics but still lots of guitar. I'll keep you posted.
I've played it quite a few times, it's certainly not peak Doves, but there are quite a number of nice tracks. Frustratingly (it's now happened a few times), I'd pre-ordered the album, then the band released a 'special edition' CD with extra tracks, so I ordered a second copy!
I generally only buy them where there's a bonus song or two that's unavailable elsewhere, like the forthcoming Doves one, for example. I only own a handful of them though. In some respects, songs make less sense on a compilation, particularly where a band has altered its style.
A good friend of mine swears by 'Best Of' compilations. He's even been asking me when I'm going to release one for Sky Patterns 😆
I'm very similar, Vincent, though it's difficult with artists like Soap Kills, because some of their music was self-released - and they were based in Lebanon. For example, I picked up a copy of their 'Lost' EP from eBay - and I've never seen it come up for sale before or since!
Excellent. There's a 'Best Of' compilation, which might be a decent place to start.
I haven't checked if Soap Kills are on streaming services, I certainly found some of the CDs tricky to track down. Definitely worth checking out though, particularly if you like 'Ya Nass'.
Excellent. I'd advise starting with 'Ya Nass', that album is a wonderful introduction to her music, Ricky. She used to sing in a band called Soap Kills, who recorded 3 albums.

Also check out the wonderful 'Mustt Mustt' by Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, it's on Peter Gabriel's record label, Realworld.
I'm definitely doing the Chams Manchester gig. It's very busy for me around that time with gigs, notably MBV, Wolf Alice, and several others. I'll hopefully see you in the pub prior to the Chams Manchester gig.
Which gig is this, Peter? I can't do tomorrow, as I'm busy elsewhere, but are you coming to the Chams gig in November?

THE DUKE SPIRIT

Unbelievably, it's the 20th anniversary of 'Cuts Across The Land', and tonight they've returned to Manchester. The sheer energy on that stage is an incredible sight. They sound wonderful too.

AGNES OBEL

Just stepped onto the stage at the @RoyalAlbertHall, it's the wonderful Agnes. This is a bucket list item for me, I've never visited the Royal Albert Hall before. It's the most magnificent venue.

CHRIS DIFFORD (SQUEEZE)

Just stepped onto the stage at Dingwall's in Camden, it's the wonderful Chris Difford. This will be my third time seeing him this year alone. Sounding fabulous! 👌
