That’s fair. In the first term, there were people who at least sometimes tried to push back when he tried to do blatantly illegal things because he was mad. Those people are gone now so there’s nothing to stop him from lashing out when his feeling are hurt.

I think there is a simple reason that isn’t about oil or drugs. Trump is jealous that Maduro succeeded in maintaining power after losing an election while trump failed in his attempt.
