Another of my grey day pics, although it was sunny and bright today.
As I left the barn, about a 1/4 mile from where this was taken, I SAW A BOBCAT! Highlight of my day!

Update on tobacco #Farming

The freezing of tobacco leaves hung to dry would ruin the texture.

So if there's moisture in the crop and a frost, you insulate the tobacco barn and heat it.

This shows early morning smoke escaping the barn. Most barns are empty now, but this one is still drying.

A grey wooden tobacco barn is wrapped in plastic to insulate it; smoke billows out of the barn from fires lit to help keep the tobacco inside from freezing and to assist drying.

The problem with dogs who have their own agendas because we bred them to. My floof is half Great Pyrenees and half Australian Shepherd. He knows how to alert us to any noise, strangers, squirrels, jet airplanes that might endanger his flock of people and cats.

For my birding friends, from a book on animals in art, "A Mother's Courage." Thought this historical print of a failed eagle attack might interest you.

In those muddled days after When all was opened doors
And emptied drawers

Butter-soft and finest leather
Stitching like the whisper of the needle
Wrapped still in silvered tissue
Faded tags of festive gifting
Unworn
Saved for a "best" too late to know So if you think me too showy
With misplaced colours and gaudy cloth
Fine jewellery worn for no good reason
It is because I have learned to Wear the damn gloves

Mine take up winter residence in the sun room. I spend all winter chasing the cats out of the sunroom. I put up a barricade, but one jumps like a leopard. The squirt bottle gets a lot of use.
