North Mississippi friends! I'll be doing a reading and book signing at Bookends in Pontotoc this weekend. Come hear #poems from Tree Fall with Birdsong! Everyone is welcome!

We've finished responding to submissions for Issue 17. We read over 1000 submissions, so more than 4000 poems to select 100 pages. That means our acceptance rate for 2025 was about 2.5%. We mean what we said: there really wasn't room for all the good poems!

Just kidding, of course! The law is real and the fact that #Bluesky is blocking #Mississippi IP addresses is real, but we have heard of #VPN.

Too bad for the mule, though; she's feeling neglected.

Wondering why we're quiet? One reason is we've been busy! The other reason is we're based in Mississippi and Bluesky is blocking users in our state thanks to a restrictive new law. So we have to hitch up the mule and drive to Alabama to post. #mississippi #bluesky

We love that we can embed our @librarything.com books shelf on our website. It's a great way to promote poetry by our contributors, as well as other books we discover.

We've added Tree Fall with Birdsong to our @librarything.com bookshelf and therefore to our poetry page at www.muw.edu/poetrysouth/poetry/ where you can see more recent and notable #poetrybooks by Southern poets and Poetry South contributors.

Congratulations on a successful pub day!

ChillSubs' analysis of social media at Lit Mag News made us feel better: they call a 10:1 follower/following ratio healthy. Ours is about 2:1. We're still looking for cool people to follow, but glad to feel less pressure to follow back. @chillsubs.bsky.social litmagnews.substack.com/p/social-med...

We've begun actively reading #submissions for Issue 17. Out sincere apologies for the delay (due to a death in the family). We will be working through our backlog as quickly as we can, while still giving each submission due attention!
