On a strict budget right now (I thought the horror of the month would be the movies I'm watching but turns out it's vet bills as well), but I decided to treat myself to a book. Heard good things about this and I was instantly sold on riding giant lizards (& the beautiful cover!)

Day 6 of my #31daysofhorror gave me my favourite film so far this month - Crabs!

I've been so stressed lately I needed to go with a comedy today & I had such a good time with this! Likeable characters, made me laugh out loud, had so much charm (& a cute guy) - I recommend!

First 4 days of my #31daysofhorror

1. The Ghost of Yotsuya (1959)
2. The Bloodhound (2020)
3. Popcorn (1991)
4. This Night I'll Possess Your Corpse (1967)

Today's film was my favourite so far, Coffin Joe is such a fascinating character and this film was even better than the first.

Tomorrow my 31 Days of Horror begins and I feel so unprepared with how work and life has been lately. Looking forward to lots of horror of course, but a movie every day feels more of a challenge this year. But I've been doing it since 2019 and I really do love it so much.

Our Stallone series continues as we're joined once again by Liam Underwood to discuss Rocky III, a movie Dan gets a bit too excited about. This is one of our funniest episodes yet, so get in the ring with us and have a few laughs! 🥊🎬

This set looks amazing though it's a bit too pricey for me but thank you Heath, for recommending A Masterpiece in Disarray. I didn't know this book existed, had to pause to look it up straight away. Found it (blue version now) and purchased right away! It just turned up. Beautiful!

It's been a pretty good week.

You've seen so many more, and have a higher opinion of his 'worst' film than me, but I still enjoy that our top and bottom films are the same!

Happy to report I had a great time watching One Battle After Another. Definitely on the Phantom Thread end of the scale!

I've only seen two PTA films - I know, I know, I need to prioritise some more - and based on them I have no idea what to expect with One Battle After Another (which I should be seeing today if all goes to plan) 😂

I have not! Thanks for the inspiration of which Caine to watch next.

I can't imagine a Stallone version of this right now. Obviously it's got to have a very different tone because there's just no way otherwise. Anyway, I like Stallone and am working my way through his filmography so I'll get to it one day.

I just watched Get Carter and just like with Le Cercle Rouge, all I can think about is how cool the movie is. But where Le Cercle Rouge was big on style, this is gritty. I really enjoyed it. No matter what Jack did, I'm looking at Michael Caine thinking 'you're so cool'. Great ending too.

JB have started their annual horror 'buy 2 get 1 free' sale so I picked up a few recent favourites for my collection.

Michael Caine in this movie...definition of cool. I definitely need to add more of this type to my watchlist.

We're diving into the wild, weird and war-torn world of Christian Slater!

This week’s Banger or Bomb puts Twisted and Windtalkers under the microscope. Neither of us had seen them, but are they hidden gems worth your time or better left buried in the back of the DVD bin?

Of course. That said, you do have some power as I did actually start watching Get Carter before work even though I knew it meant splitting it into two viewings - loved the first half!

When I looked up Huckleberry Hound on Amazon to see if it was available for me there I saw this - which has to be your influence, surely! 😄

On this day in 1975 DOG DAY AFTERNOON was released in North America.

It features one of, if not THE, greatest performances that Al Pacino has ever given. A truly breath-taking acting tour-de-force.

Starting a Christmas village this year! (buying this early because I had the chance to visit a Christmas store today).

Seven songs into this and absolutely loving it.

I'm trying not to purchase movies this month (besides pre-ordering Radiance titles which I do every month), so of course it's the month I find out about these, which I really want to order right now!
poisonfrankie.bsky.social
I'm so glad you enjoyed it so much! I think I recommended one to you last year that you liked but didn't love so this is a nice comeback. I will have to revisit the film again sometime soon

Just watched 13, which is a remake of 13 Tzameti - by the same director 5 years later. It doesn't have the best reviews so I wasn't expecting much but got a fantastic Michael Shannon performance from it. What could have been a nondescript character became eccentric. Loved him!

A ★★★½ review of 13 (2010)
Shannon September - Day 6 I've seen 13 Tzameti, but so long ago I don't even remember enough to compare the two (interesting to note they have the same director and were released just five years apart...

I decided to go ahead with Shannon September! Day 1: Vanilla Sky

He's not in this much, but I really loved it the first time I watched it (Shannon September 2022) and have been wanting to watch it again for ages.
