Their father was George Johnstone Stoney, physicist who coined term electron in 1891 for ‘fundamental unit quantity of electricity’. He moved the family to London in 1883 to ensure his daughters could access higher education not available in Dublin at the time. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_...
