Some users reported issues opening Polypane with other applications as of 27. We fixed the bug causing that and now 27.0.2 is out too:

Just got reminded about @polypane.app's Safari helper extension.

All extension descriptions have a blurb explaining Polypane is a separate app + what it does, but Apple didn't allow me to run that copy.

So for Safari it says "What Polypane is can not be explained. Literally."

That was accepted.

We just released Polypane 27.0.1 with a fix for the crashes that could happen on MacOS systems. We also snuck in a couple of other fixes!

To solve this quickly we had to disable Widevine DRM, which will be re-enabled in a future release.

Polypane 27 is here!

Polypane now has a projects-based workflow, a new snippets panel, line numbers in the style panel (we know!), a new macOS icon and so much more.

We're tracking an issue where new installs of Polypane don't work because the Widevine DRM servers return an error.

Sorry about that. We hope it's resolved soon, and will implement a workaround for that situation in the next release.

Existing installations have the DRM license and will work.

The chrome-devtools-mcp team made updates to it and to Puppeteer to better support Polypane (and other @electronjs.org apps).

Despite my general qualms about Generative AI, I think that's pretty cool!

Right after (experimental) support for field-sizing landed in chromium 120 back in December 2023 we immediately made good use of it in Polypane and wrote about it and the alternatives we used before:

Should we make available a set of icons to use?

Only *cool* browsers contribute back to the platform. 😎
Can't wait to see how a company with a $600 billion valuation, that pushed out a new web browser, only for macOS, contributes some of their stacks of money back to the web platform.

Market research!

How often do you use one of those "what is my browser" websites (personally or sent to someone)?

Would you use one that isn't littered with ads or has a design from 1995? What features should it have?

What if you could also use it to collect info to emulate devices in Polypane?
