The world feels brutal and ugly right now and this film definitely reflects that. First film for 31 Nights of Horror is Night Train Murders (Lado, 1974). Many people compare it to Last House on the Left but I would argue that it’s superior in every way.

Checking out one for 31 Nights of Horror that I missed last year- Werewolves (Miller, 2024)

One of my favorite films from the past 10 years is Possessor (2020) directed by Brandon Cronenberg. It is tonight’s watch for 31 Nights of Horror

I’m just noticing I’ve got a lot of Italian films so far for 31 Nights of Horror and tonight is continuing that trend- The Bird with the Crystal Plumage (Argento, 1970).

Tonight’s viewing for 31 Nights of Horror- Black Sabbath (Bava, 1963). The “Drop of Water” segment is among the best (or possibly the best) part of any anthology/portmanteau

Watching one of my all time favorites for 31 Nights of Horror- From Beyond (Gordon, 1986). The fuchsia color palette really captured the otherworldly, interdimensional incursions. Highest recommendation

Tonight for 31 Nights of Horror, I’m watching a film about experimental animal testing that leads to humans getting infected with a virus that causes violent behavior. Sound familiar? Primal Rage (Rambaldi, 1988)

Watching The Church (Soavi, 1989) for 31 Nights of Horror. Soavi is one of the most underrated Italian horror directors. Stagefright, The Sect, and Cemetery Man are also excellent.

Finally catching up with Bring Her Back (Danny & Michael Phillippou, 2025) for 31 Nights of Horror.

Lightening things up a bit for the second film in 31 Nights of Horror- Croc (Raffill, 2007). I haven’t seen this one yet but I love a creature feature; and Michael Madsen always makes things better.

"Masked security forces captured an opposition leader in the coastal province of New Jersey as regime officials continue their months-long crack-down against pro-democracy elements in the embattled United States. The arrest comes as the regime issued calls for summary detentions without trial."

I thought Remmick represented capitalistic forces and how they absorb cultural expressions. They can magnify them but also flatten/homogenize them at the same time. The Native Americans had rejected this deal.

RIP to Wings Hauser. Vice Squad is my personal favorite but his presence in any movie always made it more interesting
