Turns out when you run a free community clean air program, people actually use it and the group adapts to meet changing needs!

What’s new?
• Slower processing times
• Optional form questions
• One hub closed and another opened!
Image ID 1: A white graphic has a dark rectangle in the center with a light purple border along the bottom. The headline reads, "Reservation process updates" and there are yellow sparkles on both sides.

Three bulletpoints read, "due to increasing demand, we now encourage submitting requests two weeks in advance (or earlier)! new, optional questions have been added to the reservation form to help us make equitable decisions. the busiest hub (inner SE) is permanently closed because of landlords and we've added a new one to our map."

In the bottom-left corner is a logo for Portland Clean Air Committee next to a link bit.ly/BorrowFromPCAC and and arrow pointing to the next slide. Image ID 2: A white graphic has a dark rectangle in the center with a light purple border along the bottom. The headline reads, "Two weeks in advance!?" and there are yellow sparkles on both sides.

The text body reads, "Yes! Clean air is a universal access need at all events. We can prioritize that. It's a smart move to submit your request as soon as the date & venue have both been confirmed. Requests with shorter notice will still be processed by volunteers as quickly as possible. More processing time means less errors & frustration for everyone and a more equitable system."

In the bottom-left corner is a logo for Portland Clean Air Committee next to a link bit.ly/BorrowFromPCAC and and arrow pointing to the next slide. Image ID 3: A white graphic has a dark rectangle in the center with a light purple border along the bottom. The headline reads, "FCFS Problems" and there are yellow sparkles on both sides.

The text body reads, "First- come- first- served mostly benefits those who have time, money, freedom and independence. It disadvantages those who are poor, disabled, or carers. There is an underlying (and untrue) assumption that those who care the most will respond the fastest. More details: bit.ly/FCFSproblems "

Image ID 4: A white graphic has a dark rectangle in the center with a light purple border along the bottom. The headline reads, "Optional Questions" and there are yellow sparkles on both sides.

The text body reads, "Filling requests solely on a first-come, first-serve (FCFS) basis is not a fair way to serve our community. The questions on the last part of the survey will help us know more about who we are supporting, so we can do our best to reduce harm. It's possible to submit requests and skip past demographic questions, if desired."

Both mutual aid groups are stocked up and ready to share, although a lil slower to respond these days. 😉 Want to help keep up the energy? We're open to new volunteers.

A lil birdie told me something about a Patreon coming soon, too.
More on that later... 3/3

Free masks are back in stock, while supplies last!

Huge thanks to the dozens of people who helped us get these into storage. Y'all were able to bust down SIX pallets of masks and get them moved into storage in less than half an hour.

Now it's time for distribution.
We keep us safe. 1/3

The ICE building across the street disperses unknown chemical agents, and the apartment building’s HVAC system is pulling that toxic air INSIDE.

💜 We will not let them choke alone 💜

We are ready to teach more people how to build DIY air purifiers using Corsi-Rosenthal boxes BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP.
portlandcleanair.bsky.social
Share this. Emergency support needed NOW to shield families from ICE gas exposure.

Right now, there are many people (including young children, babies, disabled folks, Veterans, pregnant parents and more!) who are being gassed inside their own homes in Portland, Oregon.

Masks and air purifiers are two of the tools we have against airborne illnesses like COVID-19!
People living with long COVID and other post-infection conditions advise continued rest AND LONG-TERM PACING after an infection before gradually increasing activity.
Clinical research on the impacts of antivirals (e.g. paxlovid or metformin, methylene blue, and more) is being conducted. So far, there are mixed results, and there is no one-size-fits-all option."
