Broke, nerdy musician.

I like coming here to get away from the real world. If you post a lot about the arts and/or instruments and gear, I'm probably going to follow you. If it's mainly sp*rts, p*litics, or p*rn, I probably won't. Nothing against them, just not my thing. Pics of guitars, pets and music links make me happy
Toots Hibbert, Robbie Shakespeare, Bunny Wailer, Lucky Dube, Drummie Zeb, Steve Grizzly Nisbett, Bunny Rugs, Ibo Cooper, and now Jimmy Cliff. So many of the great ones I loved in my youth have since left us recently. Luckily Yellowman was able to cheat death and we still have him

When changing wipers, throw the old pair in the trunk. They're thin enough to not really take up much room. Once I had a limb fall on my wiper and crack it and another time one just fell apart from being on high too long in a bad storm. Having a spare (free) blade means seeing on your way home

Yesterday I learned Hall & Oates "Maneater" was actually about New York City

Scammers must be using AI, because the email I got makes no sense😭

"MHC AP BLOG Remit Advice"
"To receive payment for the below referenced invoice(s), please click on the link below and charge the total amount of 41,250.00 (USD) on your assigned Visa account."

Am I getting money or paying money?

If time machines are invented, I'm going to go to Woodstock and say "In the future, people will pay the equivalent of 2-10 months rent to go concerts where they watch giant TVs and buy expensive souvenirs" and see how many ask where they can find the same stuff that I took to come up with that crap

As a fan of the Marx Brothers, I was reading trivia. With today's prepared (usually insincere) apologies, it made me lol to see that when Freedonia, NY complained the fake country in Duck Soup was named Freedonia, the Marx Brothers replied "Change the name of your town. It is hurting our picture."

Found a cheap valve trombone that needs work yesterday, and wanted to get a stand. Sweetwater's were close to the price I paid for the horn, so I checked out Walmart, who was 30% cheaper. It said the order would be fulfilled by Musician's Friend, so I went to their site and got it even cheaper

It looks like Cubase LE 15 is free right now for anyone that wants to check out Cubase

PSA: Creators of all types are being contacted about being interviewed for a magazine/podcast then being told they HAVE to download an app to do the interview in. The app isn't in the App Store/Google Play and once it's downloaded it immediately steals info & passwords. Be safe out there everyone ❤️

Been busy with life and hadn't been able to get on here a lot in the past few months. Things have finally settled down. I don't know if it's quieter here now, or everyone is just talking about things on my blocked words list

I was shaving with my electric razor the other morning in silence, my "Now Playing" app pops up and identifies it as a Tool song

Had an itch, so I found this 2000 Ibanez SA-160. Bought it strictly because I didn't have a purple guitar yet and it was cheap. Love the tonal options and feel! It always impresses me how high quality even lower price point Ibanez product is!

Was watching some old TV clips from my childhood on YouTube. All the people I thought were "fat" back then are way skinnier than I am now

I have to admit @softube.com really has me with their Black Friday sale, doing different offers every week of November. Each week, I'm going "It's a good deal and I'm spending less than $100" I hate to see how much they'll get out of me by December. But I'm getting a lot of cool plugins!

The amount of time someone spends playing a guitar in the guitar store is inversely proportional to their likelihood of actually buying it

I walked in to a new local music store the other day. Some guy was playing an amp way too loud. Every time I asked the price of something, the guy would start playing as the person behind the counter answered, resulting in me having to ask several more times.

Did anyone see the Shark Tank with the 3D printed violins and cellos? They were completely flat (physically, not tonally). They seemed to sound OK, but I can't imagine playing violin/viola/cello/upright without an arched top

I'm not into sports at all. So when people say stuff like "Our team is doing really good this year if you take out all the games they lost" I just nod and smile and pretend that it makes sense and I understand

(That's a real comment I was told two days ago)

I made this USB patchbay 6 years ago thinking I'd probably never actually use it, but it's very convenient when I do need it

When I built my computer I put 13 USB ports in it. I also built this USB patchbay thinking I'd never need it. I'm glad I did, because I started using it this week
