Spent the week teaching and meeting with colleagues at Malmö University. An intense but rewarding week.
Celebrated with a well-deserved princess cake at Emporia!

This was the theme of one of the first ASC conferences I attended and I guess it has stuck with me ever since.

Time for a new wave of PADS+ data collection. Visiting the PADS+ office meeting Kyle and Beth, and our new research assistants (Katie, Rhianna, Giulia) who will be doing the most important job interviewing the participants. And of course it was time for a coffee!

Enjoyable concert at the O2. One of the many perks living in a commuting distance to London and it’s rich cultural life.

Wishing everyone a happy summer and many good readings! There is in my view nothing better than a coffee and a good book.

Congratulations to Dr Kyle Treiber that just has been appointed Professor at the University of Cambridge. Such a brilliant mind. It is a particular pleasure to see your former PhD students do well.

Psillos is an old favourite of mine and his book with loannidis does not disappoint. Two very good books.

Enjoying a break in the Spanish sun and some very good books. Carruthers's just published book makes a good argument that philosophical treatments of action theory would benefit from taking better into account cognitive sciences, and, among other things, the role of habits.

Enjoying Tea and Scones at the Orchard. One of many classic and lovely spots in Cambridge.

WONDERFUL to see BRYNÄS ready for the finals. Lucky that at least there is an English pay channel that shows matches from the SHL. Brings back wonderful childhood memories from my short ‘career' in Brynäs boys' team 3 😂
As they say.
Once Brynäs, always Brynäs!

Interview I did with Kurir, a leading Austrian newspaper
Enjoyed talking to this excellent journalist on crime and its prevention

Spent a few days in Vienna, one of my favourite cities
Gave a talk at the University of Applied Science on the causes of crime and its prevention. Had interesting discussions with policy-makers; a weissbier, a lovely Vivaldi church concert, a Sacher cake, and a visit to Albertina

The PADS+ cohort is now in their mid 30s. We did the first data collection at their age of 12, interviewing their parents, including collecting
retrospective data about their children from birth. The main findings from the study so far has been published in two books

Time to become a 'grey eminence'😂
The succession of the PADS+ study is in full swing, 'the three musketeers', the highly
experienced and skilful team of Beth Hardie, Gabriela Roman and Kyle Treiber, under Kyle's
leadership, is just in the process of recruiting the fieldworkers

Very enjoyable for people like me interested in the role of rules and their role in human action. A good and recommended read!

Coincidently, I just received this book by Newburn and Ward that has a large section on smoking so perhaps? I will instantly be proven wrong. Look forward to read this one!

powikstrom.bsky.social
Understanding the mechanisms of change in moral norms and its behavioural effects are crucial knowledge for crime prevention policy and practise. I have not seen any in-depth analysis of the changing moral norms of smoking and its drivers but that may just be due to my ignorance?

powikstrom.bsky.social
Just ordered your book. Look forward to read it. Thanks for highlighting it

Crime propensity measured as an index of law-relevant morality and ability to self-control and criminogenic exposure as and index of time spent in criminogenic settings and having criminally active peers. For details, see ch 3.
